I enjoyed the episode but the writer's jabs at conservatives for several episodes bugged me. I don't think it's a stretch to say that the name Gene Newtrich was intended to sound like Newt Gingrich. Larry Smiley's name in Just Say Noah was also an obvious poke at Gary Smalley. Choosing those names didn't add anything to the story, but they did distract from an excellent show.
