I have finally figured out why the ending is bothering me so much, well in part. It looks like Lois is going to assume Clark has turned against her, when in fact he loves her just as much, he just has no hope.
I have little hope Clark will explain everything. There is no easy way to explain his reticience to move their relationship forward too fast without telling Lois about the curse, and that requires lots and lots of explaining.
I hope Clark can at least convince Lois that he made the right decision in not making love to her while she was drugged. Even that looks like it will be an uphill battle though.
I will also say that I thought the scenes in the news room from Lois' perspective were also very good.
