The headline story of the morning edition of the Daily Planet had something to do with national politics, and was therefore, naturally, ignored by all the newsroom staff except those who had written it, were assigned to follow it up, or whose job it was to cover that sort of thing. Of much more interest was a local
story -- *very* local, featuring as it did two of the paper's own
stars -- namely the previous night's charity Bachelor Auction,
and what happened there.
