If she is wrongly convicted though, it would seem to be the just thing to get her out.
I would think the just thing would be to find the evidence that proves her innocence, capture the real bad guy, and win a quick appeal. Superman walks a fine line with public opinion, and he can't afford to appear that he thinks he and his friends are above the law.

I read that as meaning "not just alleged" rather than "above board".
I also think that is what she meant, but it still seams a weird way to describe it. I would think "real" or some other word along those lines would be better.
