I find it interesting that so many people are
in the closet - just about everyone knows that I read and dabble in fanfic. I do have to admit, though, that my family and friends are probably more indulgent than most.
I've even got my kid brother reading - which is great, since every time I get sucked into a new fandom, all I have to do is get him to watch it with me and wait for him to send through the recs.
I'm proud of it though - I've learnt so much from being part of my fandoms. I can safely say I've learnt more grammar through reading and writing fanfic than I did in six years of high school - and if anyone makes a fuss about my online pursuits, I tell them exactly that.
(Well, I tell them that, and that it's much better than looking up porn.
