Everything and anything written by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss or Virginia Henley. They write historical romances. Okay, I admit it. It's my one guilty pleasure I just have to live with it. That may be why I love reading nfic so much.
And anything rewritten by H.P. Lovecraft. He's the gothic horror writer who inspired others, like Steven King. It's harder to find his stuff, but if you do, it's definitely worth reading. Just make sure it's a nice sunny day out and all the lights are on!
