When the first episode of Smallville was aired here, I tried to watch it, but I turned off the TV 10 minutes after.
I don't know exactly why I didn't like it. Maybe it's because the first thing I liked in L&C was Dean Cain, and Tom Welling is not nearly as handsome? (imo) Years ago I decided not to watch a soap-opera for the very same reason
Maybe the absense of Lois, too... Lois and I have some things in common, and it was nice to identify myself with her while watching L&C. I don't think I could do it with Lana.
Perhaps I would have loved it too, if I had tried to watch one whole episode and then decide. The plot seems to be to my taste.
But, well, I didn't, and I'm not going to - I'm watching six other shows right now, they're fairly enough <g>
