I suspect that he had it slip his mind (considering he's an eccentric scientist/author I think you can consider that a possibility.) [/b]
It could also be that he came up with his hypothesis prior to learning about Carlos, and the fact that Carlos is a priest leads him to consider him less likely to be a reincarnation of True Clark's soul.
