You'll also find a lot of down under women enjoy their sports teams just as much as the male-folk (but with far less hooliganism... MOST of the time)
In my experience, it is the women who are most fanatical.
Hooliganism - I hear about footy hooliganism, but I really don't see much of it. I haven't missed a Hawthorn game in Victoria since 2003, and I travel interstate a couple of times a year to go to games, but even in Adelaide (they have the reputation of being the most feral), I've never had any problems.
