I didn't say that, Roger. I said that if it could be proved that the Republicans honestly tried to push through a bill that would have regulated Fannie and Freddie, but
if it could be proved that the Democrats stopped it by filibustering, then that would have been a good reason for people to put a lot of blame on the Democrats, and it would have been a good reason for them to vote for McCain.
But I have seen no proof that the Republicans did their very best to avert the incoming disaster, and to make everyone see that it was the Democrats' fault that the tidal wave wasn't stopped after all. Calling the Democrats' bluff, or allowing them to filibuster themselves into a corner, would have done precisely that.
