You're right about the name. It has no further relevance in the fic - so I didn't give it a lot of thought - but Shuster's isn't very Kryptonian.
Since they seem ultra militaristic, I would suggest calling it "the drill field" where they do their marching. Guys like those have to march a lot to wear off energy
