I had tried that selecting a letter for the drive thing. I can't. It doesn't give me the option. The player appears in My Computer, but then again when I right-click on it there's no option to eject it. I can't get rid of the drivers the way you suggest as my system restore is actually turned off (not sure why and not sure how to turn it back on), but earlier tonight I tried plugging the player to my desktop computer. I had the same issues as it asked me to install the drivers, which it wouldn't find of course. To install it on the laptop (and I assume it would be the same on the desktop), I had to go to the "add hardware wizard" thing.

Both computers, btw, run XP SP1, and the user manual certifies the player should be plug and play with this OS.

So I'm at a loss. huh

- I'm your partner. I'm your friend.
- Is that what we are?
- Oh, you know what? I don't know what we are. We kiss and then we never talk about it. We nearly die frozen in each other's arms, but we never talk about it, so no, I got no clue what we are.
