I think there'd be plenty of evidence on board the plane (newspapers, inflight entertainment, watches / computers with calendars, expiry dates on foodstuffs, etc.) pointing to the plane's timeline being 1993(?, as mentioned in an earlier part) and not 2008, which would further force the authorities to look for another explanation than terrorists, etc.

Maybe Lois should also ask Lucy about what she thinks today's date is?
