Summary: Lois and Clark travel to Egypt to cover a huge archeological discovery that will ultimately debut at the Museum of Metropolis. One of Perry’s oldest friends works on the dig site, and when mysterious things start to happen, he calls on his old friend for help. Perry’s solution, of course, is to send his best investigative team to get to the bottom of the ‘curse of the mummy’ that is plaguing the dig. But as things heat up in the investigation, things heat up between Lois and Clark, too. No whams in this one, more of an adventure story--an adventure in Egypt, and an adventure of the heart!

A/N:
  • Time: This takes place in season 2. Its best place is likely a couple of episodes after Arianna Carlin wreaks havoc in Madame Ex, and likely right after The Prankster, but before Mayson complicates things in Church of Metropolis (and certainly before Lex comes back in The Phoenix).
  • Characters: Someone mentioned that there were quite a few new characters to track in this, so I'm going to include a character list that will include details through chapter 6 (where I originally posted this). I'll add this after the chapter links and some spoiler space below.
  • Progress: The story is complete!
  • Historical Notes: There's a large reference note section in the epilogue's comments, for those of you that are into that! They're very spoiler -heavy, so that's why they're living with the epilogue.

New Character Guide
  • Dr. Kent Weeks - director of the Theban Mapping Project, a bit aloof, not keen on having reporters around, wire-rimmed glasses and white bucket hat
  • Dr. Rupert Carnahan - language expert (like an epigrapher), basically an assistant director, on loan from American University at Cairo, beard, walks with a limp, friends with Perry White
  • Dr. Bashir Amin - artifact expert (a ceramicist, but also the conservator and essentially the Finds Manager, too), basically an assistant director, long-time partner at the project, associated with the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, short but moves quickly
  • Zaid - foreman of the excavation team, works primarily with the director team, college educated
  • Wahid - member of the excavation team, terse and grumpy, bigger physique, cares for his family
  • Gamal - member of the excavation team, soft-spoken, introverted and shy, artist
  • Abo - member of the excavation team, friendly, he feeds the crew!
