Morgana, thanks so much for reading and being the very first person to comment! That's so nice of you! And yes--far, far from Kansas, indeed! As soon as Mary posted that she was thinking about this, I knew my submission just
had to be Egypt. This feels like a place that's been in my head for years, and I think the story is a little bit of a love letter to its history and culture and people.
Idontknowwhatthatmeans5678, thank you so much! And I also love the little details that are more subtle; using Lois' POV makes it a lot easier to play with that kind of thing, were WE all know what's going on, but she doesn't know why she's noticing it. Plus, I find it just comical that he LOVES it and she HATES it.
AmandaK, this story definitely glosses the actual digging/brushing/finding/cataloguing bit because, like Lois, I find it just a wee bit boring (or maybe just boring to describe?) -- but there's tons of ancient and cultural details in here. I was actually worried these first chapters were much too dense because of them.
90stvfangirl, omg, you're the best! SO grateful for your feedback on this story, both in the doc and here. You're such a great sport for reading the whole thing after it tripled in size.
Bakasi, thanks so much for the support! I always appreciate that you always take the time to comment. <3
Peixinho, me too! When I was younger, my favorite book was The Egypt Game. I must have read it 50 times! I hope this scratches the ancient Egypt itch for you!
Also, posting daily now (instead of every two days) to try and get every chapter posted while the polls are still up!
Thanks to everyone who is reading along!
