Chapter 4 lives here.
And here's the TOC.

Enormous thanks to 90stvfangirl who kindly agreed to beta back when this story was shorter! And thanks to pacem for his fast second look! clap

I think I'll likely post this closer to once a day instead of every couple of days, in an attempt to get the entirety posted before the rolls have to close! In case you noticed this jump from 14 chapter to 16, it isn't because it got any longer: I also went through and re-organized a couple of the chapters to make them shorter.

This is probably the most exposition-heavy chapter. Things move along a bit more after this.

Any comments are always appreciated! notworthy

She pushed her hair back behind her ear, surreptitiously sneaking a glance at him.

But she found him already looking at her with a more intense look than she would have expected.

A second later, he was looking back at Bashir and she wondered if the expression she’d seen in his eyes had been a trick of the dim light in the chamber, especially where they stood, further back from the illuminated wall.

It makes perfect sense that she's so insecure. After all, she has this history of failing when it comes to matters of the heart, which only became worse after the almost-wedding.

If this was how their afternoon was about to go, Lois felt like she was going to go out of her mind with boredom.

My 11-year-old self felt personally offended by this lol

I have a feeling Clark's special abilities might come in handy resolving this mystery.

Peixinho, I always appreciate you popping into the feedback section! I offended myself with how bored Lois was about the tombs. blush If I'd been in there myself, I would have been losing my mind!

Bakasi, you were absolutely right. wink Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

Thanks to everyone who is reading along!

The tomb is fascinating, though I understand Lois's frustration! πŸ˜…

Ooof I thought someone might attack them when the lights went out!! Good thing the bad guys are more subtle! The sabotage is truly a thorough work, though πŸ˜… I am so intrigued!!

Anna, in real life, the tomb IS fascinating. I'm glad the story made you think so, as well.
I think I assumed that Lois and/or Clark could, together or separately, take anything that a bad guy in this story (who was not expecting Superman, especially a super-sun charged Superman) or the desert threw at them. So I felt like I had to be really careful about choosing where the literal battles happened. Stealth really became a weapon here. Thanks for reading!
