In some ways though, Luthor is the go-to name for a villain. Other than having the same name, there is little continuinty between various incarnations of Luthor.
I'd never thought of it in precisely those terms, but you are absolutely correct. Lex is a villain, but that's really his only consistent character trait across fandoms.
