As for everyone else, you're not supposed to make irc sound intimidating! I'm sure it says that in the irc manual somewhere -
"The only problem a newbie to irc should have is finding time to download it and figure out how everything works. S/he should
not be reminded that s/he will meet his/her heros, nor should s/he be introduced to the idea that s/he may feel nervous about said meeting of heros."
Believe or not I hadn't even thought about it til everyone brought it up!
