So some people in DJ's thread expressed that they enjoyed seeing what other people on the boards look like. I suggested a tiny thread for this and a few people agreed they would like to see it. So the purpose of this thread? To post pictures of yourself! I know not everyone is comfortable with showing pictures of themselves online and that is fine! Please come in and enjoy the posts of the people that are. We promise not to force you into sharing as well. ^_~ I'll start it... and because my pictures are large I'm just gonna link to them. As much as you would all love to see my smiling face everytime you open the thread this is probably for the best. ^_~ http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y114/jojodacrow/newjojo3.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y114/jojodacrow/newjojo1.jpg And some older ones http://www.geocities.com/jojo_da_crow/jojo.html

Be afraid... Be very afraid... In Paris with ...gasp! Spider-Man (just 'cause DJ posted her pic with the guy the other day) In Montreal, December 2006. And here's another, just for the heck of it. It was also taken in Paris. Aaaaahhhh!!! Help! Superman!

Not "greyer", Marcus. More distinguished. For what it's worth - I can't see anyone's picture! My work blocks most sites like photobucket, etc. You're all just little icons to me. Lovely little icons, of course. But icons nonetheless.

I don't think I have a picture of myself newer than 8 years old - and I'd hate to misrepresent myself. I could get dolled up, but again with the misrepresenting.
Oh, I just remembered - I have my work id or my driver's license - eek!

So hard to find a photo that makes you look decent and also represents you accurately. This photo is about two years old but I still look roughly the same, although I will admit that the camera fairies were being very nice to me on this day.

:waves: at everyone. Nice to see your pics! Darcy - is that in your new place? I'm having problems seeing some of the images as well, for some reason... I've edited the links to mine -- they're no longer on PhotoBucket now. I wish I could also say I've found some non-awful and non-completely ridiculous pics of me, but they're the same ones, just stored on my Mac account instead. There 'ya go.

This pic is almost two years old but I still look the same (alas). It was a windy day - my hair isn't usually that bad. And I'm not usually squinting either. Bonus points to anyone who can pinpoint where I am. <g>

Hah! Sue! You did it! You posted. Oh and I could pinpoint where you are - but that would be cheating. <g> Now in honor of your post. I'll show the picture of Scully that reminds me of Sue. (There's a picture Sue sent me where she REALLY looks like Scully - but she's forbade me to show it. <g>) Here's how I always think of Scully: But here's the picture for comparison. <g> I love all these pictures. I can't believe my little spidey pic inspired this. Can't wait to see more pics of everyone! <g>

Well, the account where I used to keep pictures and such expired, but I do have one online. It's an old Halloween costume. From 1999, actually. But I haven't changed much in the intervening years. Lost a bit of weight, and I usually wear glasses, but other than that... *shrug* (Oh, and if you look closely at my left ear, you might see a little gold hoop earring. Hard to make out, with the low res of the picture. Anyway, it was part of the costume. Cheap plastic with a magnetic backing. But it served.) Paul

Having trouble with photobucket, plus I don't have a current picture on my computer. I'l probably post one in the next couple of days if I can remember my account info (that's the trouble-see above).
Oh, and Lara, you should edit that photo of Sue to put a crown on her head. We could even have a mini-coronation. (To make it official).

Oh, hey, JoJo. What thread were you speaking of? Is that some place in England, Sue? Couldn't see your pic, Mellie. (But I know what you look like. ) Here's a pic of me. It's really the only one I have since I hate having my pic taken. It's about 10 years old, but except for looking a little older, I'm pretty much the same.

At the risk of sounding like I spend too much time talking about Sue with other people (*lol*) Crazy_Babe and I were discussing exactly that the other day - a coronation ceremony. Really, I swear. Starting to wish I was at the big computer (the one with Photoshop, the Wacom and all the art stuff) and that it wasn't already too late to start such a project.

Too late? Pshawww! It's never too late. Okay, okay, we'll let you sleep, Lara... but maybe you could find time to do it once you've had sleep. Queen Sue... yes, definitely needs a crown.

It's great to see everyone! It takes me a while to replace my mental image of people with the real one, but it's good to actually have a real one! Now, I know all of you were *dying* to know what I look like. Here's me in front of the Toronto skyline this past summer. Sorry the shadows are a bit much on my face, but I'm not so good with Photoshop. :p And this is me at my friend's wedding in Summer 2005. The shorest my hair has ever been! And... here's this gal who everyone says looks a bit like me. I don't see the resemblence, though. I mean, this chick flies and leaps tall buildings in a single bound, and I can't do that! Sara

So, instead of being a good girl and going to sleep as she should have, Lara booted up the huge beast of a computer on her desk and toyed with the image. As you look at it, please keep in mind that this was done in half an hour, at super speed, with the artist literally falling asleep at the keyboard.

crazy? hehehe - that's not crazy, trust me. I was going to make it "Evil Queen Sue" and add little devil horns and a pointy tail, but you would have killed me for THAT. So I settled for just the crown. (edit: the name of the image file is the name of the place, isn't it? )

I have few pictures of myself, none that I like much, and not a single one that I could post here. And I don't own any sort of digital camera. Maybe, maybe I can fix a picture of myself and post it here anyway, but I don't promise anything. But hey, I loved seeing all the rest of you FoLCs! Thanks a bunch to everyone who posted! Ann

Darcy - is that in your new place? Yup. My sister took it while I was sitting at my desk by the stairs on the second floor. She visited me last night so that she could have me beta read the prologue of her very FIRST attempt at fanfiction. It was Buffy fanfiction, but that's okay. She's the ONLY person I'll read Buffy fanfic for anymore. Maybe later, I'll post pictures of the place itself--in a separate thread, of course.

Sorry I'm not smiling; I feel awkward smiling for the camera. Does it show up? See ya, AnnaBtG. Is it just me, or do all people turn out looking *nothing* like you imagined them? hehe - no, it's not just you. As a matter of fact, when I saw my picture, I realized I look nothing like I thought I did. I'm sorry... I can't help being completely silly sometimes. Seriously, though, it's fun to see people's real faces. What is the strangest to me is to realize some of you guys are a lot younger than I expected. Lots of nice smiles on everyone. This was such a cool idea.

Actually.... I've always heard him being referred to as "l'araignée" in French. Even in the theme song (cause, yeah, we translate those too...) In this case, though, the tag on the wall said Spider-Man. In fact, if anything, French people are more likely to use the English names than were are, here in Québec. Mr. Clean, on the other hand....

I usually lurk on these boards, but once in a while I make a contribution of my own, just like now My problem was not the lack of photos, it was not being able to choose lol. I had so many photos to choose from, so these are some of the photos where I look at my best. This first one is just to say 'Hi!' Me with my 'flat' hair, on the train. (I switch back between curls and no curls, depending on the amount of work I want to put in doing my hair.) Me with curling hair and two friends Me with a friend at a party, *not* my boyfriend And I agree, it's nice to be able to link a face to a nickname. I especially loved Sue's queen photo (I take it we're not gonna see the devil horned version of it? :p ) and Selinde's two dimensional pic

Lara, you should do a devil-horned one without the crown, and one with. That way she can be queen, queen of evil, or just evil.

Woody - unless you post your own picture *and* send me a written note from Sue saying she doesn't mind if I do this, then believe me when I say I'm not going to take a crack at it.
Mind you, if you want to see a 3D Queen of Evil, I can sooooo render one for you. I have all I need for that on my computer and it's just aching to be used.

Ooh! This looks *fun*! It's so great to be able to put faces with the names and icons of everyone around here. Brilliant idea!
I'll dig around on my hard drive tomorrow and see what I can bring to light.

Well, I suppose I should chime in here . . . After all, I *love* threads like this--it's fun to collect pics of all the FoLCs out there. Currently I have 55 different FoLCs in pics. That's me in my dorm room there. Oh, let's see, I can dig up a pic of Woody, I think. He *is* my brother, after all . . . There he is, with bird on arm--this was during their trip to visit me in Honduras around Christmas 2005. The pic was taken at a bird park of sorts--lots of tropical birds in large roomy cages and some you could hold. Our mom's in the background to the left, and our dad's the guy way in the background taking pics of birds in a cage.
Don't point. You make holes in the air and the faeries escape.

I did, however, dig up a long-lost post telling of the time Chris Mulder and I left North Carolina to visit with Annette Ciotola and Wendy Richards in Pennsylvania, which (thank you Wendy!) has a picture. /me points out that she's lost at least 20 pounds since that photo was taken. Wendy

This is a fun thread! Here are a couple pics from WAFF 2006. The first is of us at my parents' place when we had a BBQ and played board games with some of my RL friends. The second is of us at the Troll in Seattle while we were sightseeing. EDIT: Grrr, I've been having this problem lately. The pics only show up as dashes on the post. Can anyone see them? ~Anna

I can't see them, but I had the same problem - just because the name of the pic contained an 'ä'. Took me a while to find out the reason, though. Maybe you used a sign or non-standard letter, too?

I just found this thread! I agree, hardly anyone looks like I had imagined them. But I love to be surprised. I suppose I'll join in on the fun. I don't have many pictures of just me so this is the best I can do. You'll just had to endure looking at a picture of me and my boyfriend. Yeah, Anna, they're not showing up. But have no fear! I've got copies. I assume these were the ones you were posting: Us with the Troll. "Us" being (starting left and going clockwise): Paul (HatMan), Doranwen, me, Kaylle, and Anna. And here we are with Anna's friends (sadly, I've forgotten their names!). Anna's in the back left, then front row (left to right) is Kaylle, Doranwen, Paul, and me. Sara

JD That's so true I kind of match screen names with avatars ánd faces. So everyone who has a Lois icon, looks like a Lois in my head some of you who i don't really know have even had to undergo sex-changes  Which makes me wonder... how have you guys pictured me (if at all)? I can't see BanAnna's or symbolic_angel's pictures.

I think my mental image of people is a combination of their avatar and how they'd look writing. The best thing would be if we could all share pictures of us reading or writing fanfic or FDK.
And if you're wondering, the reason I look tall and skinny in that picture is because I'm over 6 foot 6 (about 2 meters) and I don't weigh that much.
I've heard a lot of skinny jokes because of it but I don't mind.
I think, therefore, I get bananas.

Well, I can do that, but it's not going to make me any prettier. *lol* I look as awful sitting on my couch with the laptop on my knees as I did on all the other pics.

Hah! Selinde! I pictured you (I picture everyone... but normally not the way they actually look). I knew you were from the Netherlands, but that didn't mean anything to me "image-wise". You're screen name just had this exotic flare to it so I ended up envisioning you like Brazilian or Hispanic - at least I got the dark hair right. You're a doll. Oh, and I love the "sex change" comment. I laughed so hard at that... because I felt the same way when I first came here. Some names didn't give anything away and you didn't know if it was a guy or a girl (at least for a while). Post more pictures! I love them! This is so fun... -- DJ ----- Lara! Awful? You're cute! And I already knew what you looked like because I had seen your Spiderman pic when you posted it before. <g> ---------- Smirky! I'm still waiting for a picture (I'll be posting a review soon, promise). ---------------Oh Roo! You're so cute! And so is your puppy... how old is he/she? Name?

He's a husky and lab mix. <<<<INU>>>> OH?! HAHA! I can see my brother in a reflection on the car (front side). I'm glad too see pics of people...wasn't there a thread a few years ago with some other pics? I LOVE that troll in the pic above. That is so neat!

Several people have undergone sex changes for me since we've started posting pictures LOL. But you're all in good company. The whole reason I started using Jen instead of my usual JD is because I, too, was assumed to be male by a few. <g>

I know! We should all get t-shirts that scream: "HELLO FOLCS!" in big red, yellow, and blue letters. We could explain it away as a cheap work t-shirt or something, but then we could identify each other and flock together. <thinks back to "FolCs in the Mist"> Lol.

Yeah Smirky. Find out if there are other FoLCs in the area, then arrange a get together maybe. My sister did that with a few other people last summer (see troll pic).
Then there's LAFF, which is a big get together in LA. there's an thread about that pinned at the top of the "Lois & Clark" area.
I think, therefore, I get bananas.

My hair is all done because I had a big party that evening. And I'm not usually brown, it's died. Originally, I'm dark blond. Saskia

Hey, Ann, your pic doesn't have to be digital. You can scan a pic in. I imagine there's a scanner at the school you work at, and I'm betting a student or another teacher can help you! Then you can email it to yourself or save it on disk so you'll have a copy at home. Then post it with image shack or some other free hosting agent.

I can see that many of you are having fun with this thread, but doesn't it sort of spoil the 'mystery' of who folcs actually are? Part of the fun is the creation of a mental image based only on hints and clues provided by the words, and work each of us has done on these boards. If anyone is truly interested (they'll have to work for it), my good friend Peter Krause drew me into issue 10 of "Power of Shazam". I'm the bartender there. Tank (who knows there is a photo of Wendy and I floating around somewhere, but points out that like Wendy, he has lost some weight since then... and gotten older... and grayer )

People have actually met? Beyond the siblings, that is? How does that happen? Oh, I think I've lost count of the number of FoLCs I've met in person over the years. It's been a lot of fun. If I tried to list them all, I know I'd miss people out, so I won't try - but I can at least try listing the countries I've met FoLCs from. Surprisingly enough, I've never met any Irish FoLCs in person, though I know of a few *waves to EvilSara* I've met FoLCs from: England, Scotland, France, Italy, Australia, something like a dozen US states and, of course, Canada. As for how it happens, I did once go to a general FoLC fest, but mostly it's been individuals meeting up - I've invited FoLCs to stay at my house, for example, and been invited to theirs, and when I first moved to North America we went on a road trip around two Canadian provinces and about eight US states. On that trip, I managed to fit in meetings with, I think, nine FoLCs. The following year we went to the US again with Kaethel in tow, hitting Cedar Point and Annette's place in Pennsylvania, and that time we met five FoLCs. And I should add that some of the FoLCs I've met over the years, who started off as people I just chatted to online and perhaps exchanged the odd email with, have become some of my husband's and my closest friends. And that's something special Mind you, when said husband goes gallivanting off to Las Vegas with the husband of one of these close FoLC friends... (just kidding! They had a great time, and I'm glad because they needed the break). Wendy Oh, and PS: like Wendy, he has lost some weight since then... and gotten older... and grayer Ditto on the older and greyer too, Tank *runs out to buy more hair colour*

SmirkyRaven said: People have actually met? Beyond the siblings, that is? How does that happen? Beyond getting together with FoLCs in our geographic areas, a few of us have seen fit to drive or even fly hundreds (sometimes thousands!) of miles to meet FoLCs. WAFF 2006, for example, was held near Seattle at my place. I invited a few FoLCs to come spend a week with me. Paul and Kaylle flew in from the east coast and Sara flew in from Arizona. In 2005, DocJill, Kaylle, LauraU, Kathy Brown and I drove from various parts of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana to Maryland where we rented a house for a week. At other gatherings, Kaethel, Yvonne, and Wendy have flown from Europe to the States to hang out with FoLCs. I guess we just like our online friends enough to want to travel to go see them. ~Anna

I've wanted to go to a LAFF, but I think by the time I can go (mentally (shy) ready and $$ ready) it will be no more. In the beginning, people thought I was a boy. It was fun. This *reminds* me I need to take more pics of myself. I have maybe a dozen of myself as a teen/adult, most of which cannot be given out b/c they are just horrid! This does not include the yearly school pictures. I think my next picture may include glasses. I had perfect eagle vision until about a year ago. I never really sat in front of a computer a lot (beside writing essays) until I went into CGA/my new job/Folcdom and it seems like I'm in front of one 24/7. Everything blurs when I'm lazy. That's part of the reason I have not been reading as much lately. I'll get cool glasses to show off!

Have any of you ever got to talking to/emailing/pming a FoLC so much using their first name, that you've forgotten their screen name?
I feel kinda bad, because I recognized symbolicangel's picture, but not the name "sybolicangel."
Turns out, I know her by a name that begins with C, and I first saw that pic on her MySpace profile when I started beta-reading the story she's been working on for months now. I'd been afraid to try and PM her through the boards here, 'cause I COULDN'T REMEMBER HER SCREEN NAME!
Does something like that ever happen to any of you?
On another note:
Once we get the LnC wiki going, it might be cool to have bios of FoLCs, with the pictures posted in threads such as this one attached to the bio.

I figure I represent myself pretty well here--bouncy, excitable, with a very odd contradicting dark side. But still, I find it fascinating to be able to see people and realize they are more than a name. And, perhaps the best part, is that we're finally finding out which FoLCs are male and which are female! SmirkyRaven

I have come out of hiding! I'm not really gone... I'm just on hiatus! (Hopefully you haven't forgotten about li'l ol' me!) Love this thread, and love everyone's photos! Here is me: Here is me on New Year's Eve, notice the "striking" resemblance to Lois (ha ha)! Finally, here is the man in my life. Notice the striking resemblance to... (That Halloween costume was my idea. Finally fulfilled some kind of super-fantasy for me... hee hee!) --Wanda Detroit xo

I can see that many of you are having fun with this thread, but doesn't it sort of spoil the 'mystery' of who folcs actually are? Not really. Unless I memorize all the faces, everyone goes back to being an icon. <g> But at least I know things like, Smirky is a girl, for instance. (So sorry you had to go through a sex change in my head!) JD

I don't think I've had to make any sex changes (don't have the medical background for it anyway) but there were some mental pictures of people that got changed.
I think, therefore, I get bananas.

Specifically with Smirky but also with a lot of you, I based my gender "guesses" on how you wrote your posts. Smirky, somehow while reading DD, I already knew you were in college since you told us, but the way you talked about your brother or something, I knew you were female. I think it had something to do with how you responded to the chainsaw threats that confirmed it.
I think Arawn was the only one that it took me awhile to finally glean from a post his gender.
I think, therefore, I get bananas.

It's funny how we all interpret the same things differently. For example, I always thought that Smirky was a girl - never occurred to me to think otherwise. On the other hand, it was ages before I picked up on the fact that Arawn and Terry were guys.

I tend to think that most of the people here are female, unless their screen name makes something in my brain say, "MASCULINE!"
For instance, I KNEW that Terry Leatherwood and Woody are guys all along, but thought that Arawn and Anks were female until I was told otherwise (for Arawn) or saw a picture (for Anks).

And if any of you were wondering about my surprised reaction when I saw Michael's pic - Well, I used to work with all three of those people in the pic. Small world, isn't it?

I don't think I really thought of AnKS either way, but I kinda guessed he was male.

definitely surprised that Anks was a boy!! I guess it's partly because of the capitalizations in my screen name (AnKS)... some FOLCs told me they thought my name was Ann or something.. but I kinda guessed he was male Thanks Woody fort the vote of confidence

It's so much fun seeing what all of you guys look like! Here's one of mine... if it actually works. This picture was taken last summer. To put things back in context, no, I'm not on the Titanic and that thing in the background is no iceberg; it's 4 am and I'm waiting for the sun to rise on the Grand Canyon. For instance, I KNEW that Terry Leatherwood and Woody are guys all along, I had a mental block with Terry for the longest time. Even after I knew he was a he, I'd refer to him as a she. (Sorry, Terry! <G>). I guess it was just the mental association of Terry/Teri. I got past it eventually and have it right now, but it did take a time. LabRat

This is a really fun topic! I know a lot of you already saw pictures of me and Adam at some point but it's always nice to share new pictures (especially when someone like me just lost 35 pounds ) So here it is a picture we took during a New Year's dinner cruise in San Diego: Hopefully my husband won't kill me for sharing this picture But then again he is a FoLC too so he shouldn't mind And just a picture of me (I love this picture ): Raquel (who already met some FoLCs in person and she can't wait to meet even more )

Anna said: I guess we just like our online friends enough to want to travel to go see them. I think, if I had a different job/life, it would loads of fun. But, despite all the traveling I've had to do, I never seem to be able to make it happen. Give me another few years, I guess. But seeing the pictures makes me laugh. I don't think it spoils the mystery much, because for some reason I just don't think about what people look like... When I think of Labrat, though, I always think of a small rat typing industriously on a computer. Sort of like in Pinky and the Brain. Don't ask me why. I'd definitely be disappointed if I found out she wasn't a highly educated experimental lab rodent so don't burst my bubble.

Give me another few years, I guess. Yeah, give it time I used to think the only way I'd meet people was if I went to NEFF or SEFF or LAFF, but you don't need such an organized event. The first FoLCs I met (Annette, Tasha, and Anita H) just happened to be having a weekend get-together for a weekend right in the city where I lived. I'd been told Anita lived in the Boston area, so the next time she signed on IRC I said, "Hey, I live here too!" And she said, "Hey, we're having a get together this weekend, why don't you come?" The three of them had met a whole bunch of other FoLCs before, so they could tell me a bit about lots of people and show me pictures from LAFF/NEFF (SEFF didn't exist back then, I don't think). And I remember thinking I'd been inducted into this vast network of people who knew each other, cared about each other, like a secret society or something. It was very cool The next time I met up with a large number of FoLCs, I had to do a bit more traveling. They were all meeting in Boston, where I live 9 months of the year, but it was summer and I wasn't there! I wasn't about to let that stop me, so I got a plane ticket and came up for the weekend and met a whopping 8 people! (7 new people plus Annette, who I'd met before) After that traveling to meet FoLCs was a less foreign idea, so I've done it a bunch of times. I've gone on summer trips three of the last four summers . But I continue to meet FoLCs who live in the cities (or states, at least) I do. You don't always have to go a long way to meet cool people . Kaylle (who can think of 21 FoLCs she's met in person, but suspects that certain others have met at least twice as many!)

I'm amazed - amazed, I tells ya - that anyone would ever think I was anything else! /me looks pointedly at DJ. What do you mean, you want a 'real' photo? Tsk! After all the trouble I went to to take that one, too. Do you know how difficult it is to manoeuvre a camera in a cage this size? Huh? Not to mention how many attempts it took to balance on that slippery shell without sliding back off.... LabRat

So where do you keep your computer? And do you have a mouse of your own? By the way, which picture? I thought the other one was of Uncle Charlie.
EDIT:Found the picture. Also, which scientist do you work with?

So where do you keep your computer? Bernie designed a pocket-sized pc for me to use. Course, I don't have pockets, but the thought was there. And it tucks nicely into the corner of my cage, behind my exercise wheel. Where it's easy to just scuff some straw over it to hide it if anyone but Bernie comes into the lab. (If anyone gets ideas about poking around in the straw, I just bite their fingers. ) And do you have a mouse of your own? Well, I wouldn't call him mine, but the mouse in the cage three down is a good friend. His name is Arthur and he...oh, hang on...you mean for the pc? Yeah, I got one of those. By the way, which picture? The one I posted on...page two...of this thread. I thought the other one was of Uncle Charlie. No, the one of Uncle Charlie was posted in another thread...which one completely escapes me and I can't even remember why now. ETA: Why, Bernie, of course. (Actually, I started out in FoLCdom as Doc. Klein's LabRat, but over the years - well, actually more or less right away - it got shortened. LabRat

You mean you've actually seen Superman? Cool! Not only seen him - I believe he called me cute once, when he and Lois were discussing Very Serious And Important Matters with Bernie. And stroked behind my ears. (I tried not to preen too much. Didn't want to make Lois jealous, you know.) And, ah yes, the poster thread. Thanks! LabRat (who thinks this thread got sidetracked )

Okay, I'm jumping the bandwagon. It's really interesting to see everyone! Here's a picture of my on the Toronto skyline: See Sara's picture as well. I might add that this is not a coicidence. And here's a picture from graduation last year. Ignore the "proof portait" thing - I've gotten actual copies of this since, but I'm way too lazy to go scan them, especially since this one is already uploaded. <g> Julie

Well, for the heck of it, I counted up last night. Unless I'm forgetting someone, I've met 34 FoLCs over the last seven years. One of them was even male. Some of them, I've seen more than once. There are a few more (four, I think) I've spoken with over the phone, too. Oh, and one whom I didn't get to actually meet or even speak to, but for whom I left a little package at a hotel. So, if you want to count them, that's 39.
It started with the penultimate NEFF, which happened to be in Boston when I was going to school there. I'd been involved in the fandom for a few years, but that was my first opportunity to actually meet people. Over my parents' objections, I grabbed it. So, somewhere out there, there's a video of me as Clark in the beginnings of a shoestring budget reshoot of GGGoH (that time, Jonathan really *was* a cross-dresser!), an audio recording of me making an idiot of myself talking to Tim Minear on the phone, and pictures of the one and only time (well, twice if you count my putting the ensemble together the night before) I dressed up as HatMan (complete with mask, beanie copter, and fluffy slippers... but, sadly, no cape). That last was, of course, at the costume party. Also in attendence (among others) were Ultra Woman, Supergirl, Dr. Klein, Lois "pregnant" with a basketball, Lois as Larry the chop shop guy, the Newtrich sisters, Phil (of Exotic Pet Palace fame, complete with frog), a couple of "extras standing next to the invisible man," and, my personal favorite, the "Top Banana" (complete with Del Monte sticker).
I met a dozen FoLCs that weekend (including one who'd flown in from Israel). People who liked at least some of the same things I did. People I'd seen online. Authors whose stories I'd read and enjoyed. Old friends and new. It's the only formal FoLC Fest I've ever attended, but I had a blast.
Since then, I've taken more than one trip that involved driving a couple hundred miles by myself, solely for the purpose of seeing FoLCs (some of whom I'd met before, some of whom I was going specifically to meet). One of those trips was the Boston one Kaylle mentioned. Another was to attend a wedding (FoLC bride, a couple of FoLC bridesmaids, and a couple of FoLC guests).
Other times, I've just happened to be in the right area. My grandfather's place in Florida just happens to be pretty close to the city where Queen of the Capes used to live. When I took a trip to Australia last year, Tricia took some time away to meet up with me.
I met Sara Kraft when, on her way out to Europe, she stayed over with my family.
I've also flown across the country to attend the aforementioned WAFF. That was a week, my record so far for longest duration.
Along the way, I've also met several FoLCs by association (not included in the above count). Husbands, brothers. A former roommate (still on my LJ flist). Other family and friends at the wedding.
I just keep my eyes open for opportunities. Sometimes, I make the opportunities. It's well worth it. FoLCs are some of the coolest people around. And they're around in quite a few places. Whenever I go somewhere new, I stop and wonder if I know anyone there. I've met FoLCs from around the country. I've met FoLCs from four different continents. I hope to meet still more.
Of course, like Kaylle said, there are FoLCs out there with much more impressive claims. Heck, anyone who attended LAFF in its heyday could easily dwarf my totals. But it's not about the numbers. It's all about meeting friends and having fun.
When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

Ann, you can't host your picture on your email account. You might be able to view it, but unfortunately, you're the only one. I fI try to access it, I'm asked to login - and I don't know your password, so it's a moot point. ;)Try photobucket or villagephoto instead.

This is so fun! So, even though I'm mostly a lurker and only post comments very occasionally, I've decided to join the party. My family just had pictures done in December, so this is very recent. I'm on the stool on the right. The others are my brothers and sisters. And for the record, my hair doesn't naturally have blonde in it. It's actually the same brown as my youngest sisters. http://pics.livejournal.com/jenelf/pic/00004kze/

Oh, groan! I've tried to use photobucket, but I must be doing something wrong. It just doesn't work. I'm being told that there is an unknown error when I try to make photobucket accept the picture from my email. Can anyone help me?

More beautiful pictures! A 12-year-old Cat! How adorable! Wanda - you made your boyfriend dress up as CK/Superman!! That is SO awesome. (It fits him, too, might I add.) I have met three FoLCs in real life. One of them (Bethy) was visiting Athens on vacation so we arranged a meeting. Another one (Cyad) came to my home as my guest. And the last one (Phoebe, who is mostly a lurker around here) just happens to live in Athens as well. I can't wait until I'm grown up enough for my parents to consider letting me on a plane alone. Ann, how about you save the picture in your computer and upload it from there? This should work. See ya, AnnaBtG.

I'm on the stool on the right. So, Foxy J... Is that the right of the picture or the right as you were sitting. (I'm going by the one that's blond.) Ann, you posted! I imagined you with blond hair!

The right of the picture. My sister is the one with the bright blonde hair. Mine isn't anywhere near as light as hers.

I didn't "make" him, per se... it was sort of like this: Boy: "What am I gonna wear to Bob's Halloween party???" Wanda: (pretends to think really hard) "Hmmmm.... you know, if you wear your glasses and a suit, you can put my Superman tee shirt under it and go as Clark Kent." Boy: "Honey, that's actually a GREAT idea!!" Wanda: (real casual) "Thanks." (on the inside: "YES!! YESYESYES!!!") Later.... in costumes... Wanda: (trying not to drool visibly) "You look... really cute." Boy: "I can't believe you thought of this on the fly! This was such a good idea!!" Wanda: "I know. You look... really cute." (wipes drool from chin) Haha!!

Hi stephnachia - The easiest way I can suggest, is that you open an account at a website like www.photobucket.com. Upload the pictures to your account there and then link to the pictures using the "image" function under "instant UBB Code". You just need the URL for each picture you want to link to in your account. Hopefully that's a little clearer than mud. <g> -- DJ

Ooooh, yeah, more pics...
Steph, I was able to see yours after I clicked on the link. However if you want to make them "visable" in the thread, post them as three separate images. Click on the "Image" button (it's to the right of the emoticons in the UBB section). It will prompt you for the URL of the picture. You can get the URL from the pic properties on Photobucket (it gives you a URL link for the pic).
Then you just repeat that process for each picture you want to post.
But the way you did it works too - I just wanted to explain the other option. Cute pics!
And Bakasi, somehow I don't see you looking like a "complete idiot" in any of your pics - you're adorable.

Okay... I remember looking at this post way back when I first joined. But I didn't look at all the photos then. And I just now remembered it, so I thought I'd go back and look at the rest of them. You guys are all so pretty (or...handsome...)! And I might as well add one of me. So here I am. It's the most recent one I have (earlier this year I believe) but my hair's kinda messy. Ah well... ~Anna.

Okay, since this thread has been revived anyway, I thought I might add a few more recent and less blurry ones of my. This one was taken before I got my hair cut. My hair is a little shorter now. But it's growing back... Okay, try not to laugh. I tried coloring my hair. Fortunately, it was not permanent. (I might add that this pic was taken after I had washed my hair about four times. Originally, it was bright red. *shudder*)

I don't have recent pictures of me, except for some that had been taken a few minutes after I got out of bed... Pajamas, hair in a mess, no make up... A catastrophe! Here are these terrifying pictures. On the first, I really just opened my eyes. I'm still half asleep, and I really doesn't understand what's happening to me. The second one had been taken a few minutes later. I'm awake, and I even had time to put my glasses on, but I'm still not presentable. I've added a third one, much older (more than 2 years old pictures), but it is the most recent one I have of me, except for the two horrors I posted before. I lost a lot of pound since then, but you'll get the general idea of my apparence.

Time to revive this thread. I missed it the first time round, and it's nice to put more faces to names. Unfortunately that means I should probably also post a pic too if I want everyone else to do the same, so here goes. Relax, and no VPL's this time. Clearly I am not above cheating. Who else?

It is fun to put a picture to name. Having said that, I prefer not to post my own. Let's just say that if you think you look only 15, Rona V, which you don't, maybe early 20's, you folcs would really think I could pass for 15 or so. Seriously, I often get the impression that people, especially for some reason at restaurants or even my local 7-11 seem to think I am a young teen. Probably my lack of style and the fact that I really don't care much about fashion as long as its comfortable! Still. I admit in terms of attracting single men out there, perhaps it might help to "look" a little older...I digress for now lol and say...
Lab Rat, where is your real picture? You've had your fun and now we are waiting!
All right, one clue as to my appearance is I really do resemble Doranwen. That's all folcs for now lol.

Ha, thanks Mona. I've had people tell me I look as young as 12 (I strongly disagree with that...if I look 12, there's something wrong with tweens today). I will settle for and accept being called anything 16 and over. Amongst other events, I have had a convenience store clerk actually tell me my ID was fake and refuse my purchase (it most certainly was not fake). I also once got pulled off a casino floor in Las Vegas by a security guard. After careful inspection of my ID, he forced a wrist band upon me so I wouldn't have that problem again while I was there (I didn't even know they had wrist bands!).
Some people call it a blessing. However, I currently call it, "Making it difficult for me in a professional career since nobody respects me just because I look like a kid."

Here are a couple of me. (Anyone know how to make images small without using thumbnails?) The first picture is at my staff Christmas party this past year with my friend Nick. The second is from a Bachelorette party last summer before I cut off all my hair to send to Angel hair for kids (similar to Locks of Love, but in Canada). Thats my friend Sam with me. The last picture is with my good friend Sean last Christmas at our Secret Santa Exchange. Desiree

Ooh! It's great to see the faces that go with the nicks. I'm sort of a lurking folc but I've also decided to share. This is me (Feb 2008)

This pictures were taken at the Norwescon Convention back in March. Lady Loisette attended the convention, but she was looking for her Sir Charles! Clark Kent was there too!
