It was a total creative outlet for me. I remember being stuck in my house 24 hours a day in grad school putting together projects that were constantly under our dept chair's microscope...and then I realized I could sit down and write something that wasn't going to make or break my career. And that was wonderful.
And funny, too--I like to make myself laugh and needed it.
