I know there was something between the woman and Lex Luthor. I'm sure it was his $50,000 and he has/had some nefarious purpose in mind when he asked her to bid for him.
Maybe it was just because Lex didn't want Lois to win a date with Superman.
Though you bring up a good point, Gerry. What if he was trying to get information on Superman, weaknesses and such? Or he could have just trying to get someone close enough to kill him... or maybe incapacitate him somehow, seeing as Lex does like a good advasary and wouldn't want to kill him straightaway.
