I'm back again with a comment I forgot to include the first time around. On the show, I never really "got" Clark's reaction to Mayson's death. Of all the stories I've read which delved a bit more into what Clark was thinking immediately following Mayson's death, yours is the one which really resonated with me. In just a few sentences, you have succinctly portrayed his sadness over this senseless loss of life, as well as making Clark's guilt over his inability to be honest with her seem very real and reasonable. Well done.
