It's a little thing, but I appreciated how you pointed out that Clark was fully aware of where Lois was and was confining himself to activities which could be accomplished while she didn't need him.
Such a scene you have painted for us. The man has fled the sounds of children dying of hunger only to find dead bodies floating down the river in front of him. He is surrounded by death and hopelessness when confronted with the life of food and the hope of Superman's aid.
