This is really tough!
I think adding sexual abuse in the mix is too much. Have you ever known anyone trying to get over having been sexually abused like you are implying? Frankly I think he already had plenty on his plate to have it be a miracle for him to get to a relatively "normal" life, but now this makes it pretty near impossible on top of everything else. And I guess I don't understand why the addition anyway, but it's too much evil for me.
