Mere, who's Stephen Dondaldson?
Lynn, he wrote a couple of best-selling fantasy trilogies back in the 80s (the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant). He had a habit of describing everything as either lambent, coruscating or argent - or occasionally all three. It became a standing joke among fantasy readers.
It's a minority reaction to what is, as you say, a lovely word. I shouldn't have mentioned it. Apologies to Rat.
