Well, the introspection -v- non-introspection debate has been going on a long time in this fandom and my thoughts on it haven't changed any over the years.
Basically, if I was writing professionally and getting paid for it, I'd tailor my writing to the necessities and 'rules' of that market and not write much in the way of introspection.
With fanfic, however, I'm writing purely for fun, so I'll feel free to indulge myself. Readers then have the choice to read or skip over the introspection as suits their reading tastes.
