Sounds to me like Leigh Raglan's Reminiscing. That was one of the first stories I ever read, and one of the few I printed out -- we were going out of town for a wedding, and I needed fanfic! Plus, since it was about them reminiscing, I got a lot of glimpses at early episodes I hadn't yet seen.
