I want to add that if I hadn't lost my own father and come to terms with that, then I may have seen this as a much sadder story. It's been eight years now. I guess what they say about time healing all wounds is true.
I'd love to see a little epilogue to the story - a revelation when Lois tells Clark that she has figured out the truth. Surely she flew straight to Smallville to be with him?
