Like almost everyone else, I couldn't vote because there was no appropriate choice. I let the character decide his/her name. That is, I think about wheat the character is like and what would be an approprate name for that person, and something usually pops into my head. I tend to get a bit too playful with these sometimes, and my beta reader has to call me to task. My biggest problem is that I write so slowly I forget their names and have to keep going back in the story to find them.
