I just joined the boards after reading fanfic for a long time, and am now trying to figure out how to get myself onto IRC so to join everyone for the ceremony.
I hesitated at actually going through with the logging on part, though. I'm at a university with a strict firewall (has the whole webproxy.*******.edu thing). I have a feeling I might have trouble with it. There's one port (in the 3000s) that it uses for everything Internet-related, and that I can get through, though I'm still "firewalled", if that makes sense. Is that useful in any way? Anyhew, if I try to get out with a port that they're blocking, it'll freeze stuff up. So I want to make sure it's OK before I try. Does anyone know about this sort of thing?
