WARNING: This thread will contain spoilers for the fanfic stories that are currently only available on the Fundraiser DVD ! We're still accepting donations, so it's not to late to get your own copy of the DVD. Find out how!

So you've gotten your DVD and started reading the stories like crazy? And you're just dying to gush to the authors of these stories!

That's what this thread is for!!!

You want to tell CC Aiken and Erin Klingler that their "The Kiss Off" left you in a waffy puddle of goo? Nan Smith's "Halloween" had you biting your fingernails?

Here's your chance to tell the authors what you thought of their stories! These FoLCs put in a lot of thought and effort to make the DVD what it is! Let's let them know how much it's appreciated! No need to start a new thread, simply post a reply here with the name of the author(s) and the story title. smile

And don't forget... if you want to give feedback for any of the trailers, posters, and videos, just hop over to this thread!

Thank you to all of our hard working volunteers, and to those of you who contributed to the fundraiser so we can keep the creative side of FoLCdom alive and kicking! clap

...and if you want to tell me that "Breakfast at Callards" was the most brilliant ep adapt ever... you should probably have your head examined wink

Seriously, though -- we authors write (and vidders vid) for a lot of reasons but near the top of everyone's list is the pleasure we get from hearing that other people enjoyed our work. So whether you post here or send e-mail, do try to give feedback smile

I'm still anxiously awaiting my DVD. Maybe tomorrow...

Okay, I'm kind of slowly making my way through all the wonderful offerings on the disk, and I think I'm going to comment on them sporadically. (And in random order, since I'm reading them fairly randomly.)

So...

Irene: Dream a Little Dream... loved this. So good to see you writing again! Very fun, and great job with all the stories in the dreams! Big Bad Lex after Lois's basket of goodies! laugh And, of course, continuing the theme through the last paragraph... very cool. smile

I absolutely shouldn't be here. Nope. Got a Spanish final in... *checks clock*... 90 minutes, and I haven't finished cramming yet. laugh

But, I just had to (procrastinate) say one thing about one of the brilliant stories on the DVD. CC and Erin's The Kiss Off. Actually, it's just three paragraphs that I'm gonna quote, but they are the ones that made me fall instantly in love with this story! Ready? You have to brace yourself here, because these pack an emotional punch:

Quote
He knew all about her late night drives this past summer. Her sleepless nights. The miles she had traveled under the cover of darkness with no apparent destination; just a need to keep going.

He knew because Superman had been doing the same. In the wake of the Lane-Luthor wedding debacle, Superman's evening patrols had stretched late into the night, eventually extending until sunrise. For much of that time, he had followed Lois. Keeping an eye on her, staying out of sight, knowing exactly what was driving her.

And wishing with all his heart he knew how to be the one to help her stop. To make it ok for her to be still. But if he couldn't find those answers for himself, he didn't know how he could do that for her.
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! Indelible comes to mind as well, because... well, that last paragraph has imprinted itself in my mind (and if I'm being corny, in my heart as well). I love them! In fact, these paragraphs inspired the entire first half of the trailer, and I can only hope I even came close to matching the brilliance of emotion wrapped up in these paragraphs!

I shall be back later to gush lots more about The Kiss Off! And the other stories, too! I haven't had a chance to read them all, but the ones that I have... well, there's more gushing to come. Especially for Paul - sheer brilliance (I'm starting to overuse this word, but I can't help it...)! And Tracey - waffiness galore! And Julie - how could you make me read first person point of view and love it?!

I'm stopping now... promise!

Sara (off to study more. Honest...)

Pam, breakfast at Callard's was the most brilliant episode adapt ever. wink

No but seriously, I loved it. Yours was the first story I read, after I watched your trailer, I just had to read it.

I haven't had much time to read lately, but I can see I'm going to have to make time.

Nan, after watching Poussin's trailer for your story, I can't wait to read it. It sounds very intriguing. It will be next on my list.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having trouble playing the Fundraiser DVD on a Mac.

I've tried the DVD on my iMac and my sister's iMac and the DVD won't mount on the desktop. After a few seconds the DVD is ejected. whinging

Usually, even when removable media has only windows files on it, it will still mount on the desktop. You usually can see the windows files on the Mac, even if you don't have a program that will open them.

They are older iMacs. I can read DVDs on them, but not write to a DVD. I wonder if that could be the problem. I will be getting a new iMac. I'm just waiting for Leopard to come out first because I hate installing new operating systems.

I was lucky I was able to borrow a Windows laptop for a few minutes and put the stories on a floppy and then transfer it to my iMac. I'll be able to read the stories now, but I would like to be able to look at the videos.

I hope I can play the Fundraiser DVD on the new iMac when I get it. Has anyone with an iMac been able to play the DVD without a problem?

Thanks.

Ann,

I don't have a MAC but several co-workers do. In the past when having problems with Audio or Video files their solution has been to copy the files to the hard drive. Often using a windows machine to copy files to other media than onto their MAC

DVD drives are not completely stock yet so it might be that the DVD is +R and your machine will only read -R or the other way around.

My DVD burner can read both +r and -R but can only burn -R.

Since you can't get them to mount at all you might take a USB key and go to a friend's house that has Windows and copy the files a few at a time to a USB key drive.

You could also burn the files to a few CD-roms.

Ann -- I don't know about Macs, but on the PC, we were having trouble with the Autoplay script. It wasn't working right, so we had to manually circumvent it. Force the comp to show the files rather than just trying to play the disk. I'm not sure if there's a way to do that on a Mac, but give it a shot. (Probably something off the right-click menu for the drive, like it is on Windows.)

If you can spot index.html, that's what you want.

DVD vs DVD-R or DVD+R shouldn't make a difference. The disk should be readable on all. I have an old DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and it works fine (other than the thing with the autoplay).

You might also have better luck if you post a general query in the OT or How To sections.

Patrick: You can edit your own posts. Just click the little pencil and paper icon. If you want to fix typos and stuff, that's the best way to do it. smile

Tank & Wendy

Enjoyed the story.

Tank,

Please think about writing a version with your ending

Ann, I didn't have any problems with the dvd on my iBook. I do have a combo drive, but it doesn't burn DVDs. I'd say see if you can find another computer (not iMac) with a DVD player in it, and see if it works there. Either the disk is bad *shrug* or the iMacs need newer DVD firmware updates.

Back to the original purpose of this thread, Paul, I just read Steel Shadows, and I loved it. Without giving away too many details, I have to say that it was one of the most original ideas in L&C fanfic that I've seen in quite a while. Nice work.

Okay, I'm back.

Just finished reading "Can't See The Wood..."

Aww, man. What can I say? I laughed. I laughed some more. I went "oooo!" several times. And a couple of "wow"s, too.

The gags. The subtle turns of phrase. The unbelievably witty metaphors. The moments of hilarity liberally sprinkled through what would otherwise be a classic S1 story fleshed out with rich, spot-on characterization (which can also be pretty funny).

And then the ending!! I won't spoil it, but that just capped the whole thing off so beautifully.

So, how do I properly convey all this (especially without quoting text and giving away spoilers)? How do I say how much I enjoyed it, how good it is, how much fun...?

In short:

It's a LabRat fic.

Finished reading the stories last night. Kudos to all the writers, there wasn't a klinker in the bunch.

I very much enjoyed all the stories, and even the one with the subject matter that didn't appeal to me was very well written.

All the trailers and posters showed a lot of creativity and were fun. I'm not a big video guy since a large component of their success is the choice of song, and I may not particularly care for the song chosen. Those that I did check out were well-constructed and the clip choices were well thought out.

We have a very talented bunch of creators in folcdom and this DVD is a fine showcase of those talents. Well worth a donation many times the minimum.

Tank: Yeah, the DVD is just packed with goodness, isn't it?

And... wow. Thank you! I do strive for uniqueness, whether it's a good thing or not... (Those quotes of yours had me worried for a sec. wink ) Single me out for kudos anytime! blush

I've read all of them.

I enjoyed all of them. All of them are well-written and imaginative, even the poem (which I didn't think I'd like at all, but I did). The posters are all great, too, and they match up well with the stories.

Haven't watched all the trailers and videos yet, but if they're two-thirds as good as the written pieces, they'll all be excellent. Can't wait till next year!

Just read The Kiss Off.

Wow. I have to admit, I was wondering how a story with that basic premise could keep things up that long.

Reading it, though, it just flowed. Naturally. Wonderfully.

There were moments that jumped out at me... well, not jumped out, exactly. Just that... (pardon, but I'm in metaphor mode, must be catching...) it's like chocolate chips in ice cream. They stand out, extra good, but they also fit right in with the overall goodness. The whole thing's smooth and sweet and just needs to be savored, but there are bits in it that are, well, chocolate. You know what I mean, right?

And then, suddenly, you find yourself at the bottom of the pint, and you know you're full and there isn't really supposed to be any more, but you still miss it...

Thanks, you two. smile

Back again. smile

"Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" this time.

That was a cool read.

It's an original set-up, but, strangely enough, it leads to some very familliar territory. And yet, it manages to give those familliar moments a whole new meaning. Now there's some impressively deft work.

Great job, Jenni. smile

When my DVD arrived, I sat down and devoured the entire thing in a two-day L&C marathon, and then I was overwhelmed by the prospect of commenting on so much fic. I could have responded to the stories that moved me most, but I was afraid that the other writers would feel hurt, so I put off writing any fdk. After reading Paul's poll, I realized I was being stupid, so I decided to comment on one story per day.

An Affair to Remember
Quote
The man who dreamt of marrying her. Who dreamt of her babies.... The man who wanted to marry her. The man who wanted to love her. The man who'd dreamt about a life with her...
Dave, I really liked those lines. They gave a beautiful picture not only of Clark but also of how Lois perceived him. In fact, if you don't mind, I would like to use that in my English Comp class when I'm teaching my students about the power of deliberate repetition.

I appreciated what a difference it made to Clark's amnesia when he knew Lois loved him. It brought him straight to her after he crash-landed following his first attempt on Nightfall. I just loved his final lines: "Yeah. Chair... table... mirror... Lois." His grin widened. "I know the important stuff."

Better to Have Loved and ... Lost?

Tank, that was such an evil set-up, but I have to admit that I automatically assumed the same thing Wendy did--that it occurred in an alternate universe. What I didn't guess was how she would fix it. However, as Lois talked with the alt-Supes, I have to admit that I remembered my own Mxysplit, in which I separated Clark and Superman into two people. Using the impact from Clark's crash after hitting Nightfall to split him made sense, and it was good to see both L&Cs happy and together again.

Handy little device Clark happened to have to call Wells. Must be a product of the Inter-Temporal Postal Service. wink

Well, I didn't read so much: only the Epilogue to "An affair to remember" by David (I think it's the perfect ending to your wonderful story, David! smile1

Last thing I saw is the great, great trailer by Sara Kraft to "Without a trace" by Sheila Harper. Oh my God! eek This is probably a very angsty story, so I can't wait to have a little time to read it! Brava Sara! thumbsup

Between Best Friends

Tracey, I enjoyed the way you portrayed L&C as such good friends. Even though the rest of the story wasn't in canon, I like to think that the first part (the weekly pizza-and-a-movie night) was what really happened off camera in the series.
Quote
"Lois, if you go home now, you know what's going to happen? We're going to both spend the rest of the weekend obsessing about this, and then we're going to go into work on Monday, meticulously avoiding each other and the mere mention of tonight. We'll walk on eggshells for the next month and be miserable and barely able to work together, until one day when one of us finally blows up and we hash it out." He took a breath. "And I don't know what you think, but I don't want to go through all that. Do you?"
That was such an insightful comment from Clark after their kissing went too far, and it is so exactly what L&C do. It was nice to see Clark be less internal and more upfront about their relationship. Many times, we've seen him calm Lois down when she is going off on some kind of rant, but he rarely had the nerve to use his skill on their personal relationship. If he had, they might have gotten together much sooner.

I don't know why, but I just love this little exchange:
Quote
"But what if I want to go home now?" she challenged him.

"So go home," he mumbled, his eyes still closed. His arm belied his words, however, not budging an inch.

"... I guess I could stay, then."

"So stay," came the short, sweet, sleepy answer.

I'm in the process of reading Dream a Little Dream and I just have to say, CinderClark's fairy Perry had me laughing so hard! I love how these fairy tales were used to have bearing on Lois' current situation.

And Better to Have Loved...And Lost? was really well written, of course. I tried so hard to figure out how the story would be resolved but the whole Clark/Superman split really threw me. It was brilliant!

That's all I've read so far since I just received my DVD. I'm thrilled to read the rest though! So I'll be back later, I'm sure.

Breakfast at Callards ... or Not

Pam, there were several lines that I just loved:
Quote
She glared at the offending appliance, but it failed to die in a shower of sparks.
LOL! So Lois! And...
Quote
"Lois, I'm Super--"

The shrill ring of the phone interrupted him.

Did that count as a confession, or not? No, not really.
The "no, not really" made me grin again.

I noticed that once Lois knew his secret, Clark had no problem immediately telling her that he loved her. Then, with Lois on the case, she immedicately got after the blackmailer by calling Henderson.

Unfortunately, Nigel will still have kidnapped Martha and Jonathan before the police can get Jason, so L&C will still have to save them. Fortunately, in this story's universe, Lois will already be in on the secret and Henderson on the case, so they might be able to get through it without Lois having to be frozen or Clark having to steal the diamonds.

Lots of fun!

Clark studied her, bewildered by the sudden change, as her expression shifted once more through a bewildering array of emotions in the space of an instant as the rapidity of the thoughts cascading through her brain suddenly caught up with her. Usually, he loved watching that process play across her expressive face and sparkle in the lustre of her eyes, fascinated and enchanted by it in equal measure. Now though, he was too confused to appreciate it as he tried to figure out where she was headed next and cut her off at the pass before she went careering over the horizon before he could catch up.

LOL, thanks, Sara. I think I had almost as much fun reading through your responses as you apparently did reading the story. laugh I'm glad you enjoyed it.

As for a sequel...well, I have to confess that this was one of those stories where I kind of liked the notion that the reader could make up what happened next all on their own. wink So I don't have any plans in that direction.

And now...I need to start offering up some fdk myself. Looks like I've managed to let the weekend roll past without doing anything on the pc I'd planned to do...

I have particularly liked how this story is so "complete": starting with the basic idea of a game, you gave us a story where there are sadness, loneliness, jealousy, playfulness, passion, love. Great partnership, ladies! thumbsup
You could capture Lois and Clark's feelings of sadness and disconfort with their relationship, but hinting to the very much wished happy ending!

Dream a Little Dream

Irene, I really liked the way Lois's fairytale dreams fit her relationship with Clark (and Lucy and Lex;)). Her waking thought at the beginning was an interesting one:
Quote
How arrogant it had been for him to ask her to marry him without telling her about his alter ego. Arrogance, though, was the last thing she associated with either Clark Kent or Superman. So why had he pulled such a boneheaded move?
Good to see her actually thinking instead of just being POed. Her first dream nearly broke my heart long before the Gingerbread Man fell in the river and melted:
Quote
He grinned, adjusted his glasses and ran his hand over his wildly coloured tie. "See! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

"But I don't want to catch you."

The grin faded and his shoulders slumped. "You don't want me?"
Awww. mecry Of course, then you turned around and cheered me up with the CinderClark story, where I was giggling at Lady Lucy lusting after a super guy and LOL at Clark's Fairy Perry. Lois's waking moment after the Little Red Riding Hood dream also made me LOL:
Quote
Lois awoke with a start, her arms wrapped tenderly around her pillow and the taste of wet cotton in her mouth.
That "tenderly" really got to me.

Fun little story, Irene, and it fit so well between scenes in WHALTTA.

Well, I'm still going through all the great stories. In a technical comment, autoplay didn't work for me in Windows XP, but I got all the files and put them on my HD. The videos work fine. I just right-clicked on the DVD icon to open.
Note: I'm going to post all my brief comments here.
Nan - "Halloween" was great. A very detailed story and a subtle shading of the alt-universe.
David - "An Affair to Remember: Epilogue" was great but too short!!! You need to put all three together so we can get the emotional impact! But I sure liked the ending.
Tank and Wendy - you evil, evil people! Talk about angst! My head hurt from the dancing universes. I really felt Lois' pain when she saw Clark in the casket (that's a phrase I thought I'd never write.)
Tracey - "Between Best Friends" was great! You ought to write more now that you've started again. A sequel would be very nice.
Pam - Loved "Breakfast at Callards...Or Not." Lois' realization was great and Clark adapted to the change in relationship easily.

LabRat - "When You Can't the Woods" ROTFLMAO! As others have said, such turns of phrases! You sculpt your characters with words. Not having any siblings, I'm with Clark in bewilderment at how voluable and antagonistic they can be but still loving. But I fear this cries out for a sequel. We can't leave poor Clark standing there with Lois' dirty coat on his shoulders; we have to enjoy his misery too!

Great job, everyone!!!

George's Big Day Out

Yvonne, until I read this, I'd forgotten how much I liked George. I laughed all the way through; in fact, if I were to quote the funny lines, I'd have to quote at least 80% of the story. So I'll just point out a few favorites:
Quote
Francine had eschewed her usual tweed suit and brogues for a stylish linen suit in sage green. Crap, the woman actually had curves, and...he craned forward...legs. Okay, so he'd seen them before, but today they looked so much....leggier.
Uh-oh, George's bachelorhood is becoming unconfirmed. wink
Quote
He glared suspiciously at Clark. "You do remember that conversation, don't you? Please tell me you weren't planning the honeymoon in your head while I was giving you the benefits of my considerable expertise in this area."
LOL! I could just picture that: Clark nodding and all the while thinking about himself and Lois on the beach, leaned against a palm tree, etc.
Quote
But that was back when I wasn't nervous. And this..." He held up the ring again. "is important. I might fumble it; might even drop it. You know Lois would never let me forget it if I did. In fact, she'd dine out on the story for years. It would become one of those family legend things."
Right, Clark. I believe you. wink
Quote
He shot a glance around the room. "Although, since we're here - now I get why there's always such a long queue for these places. Two lousy stalls for a place this size?"

She grimaced. "Welcome to our world, George."
No joke. I really like George's observations on things, but the section when L&C tried to give him to each other just slayed me. I won't quote the whole thing, but I was rotflol

Too fun!

The Gripe Sheet

Marns, those were funny. I was laughing right along with L&C.

Thanks, Sheila, for taking the time to give feedback, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed the story. I had a lot of fun writing it. smile

New feedback post from me since I've been gone and we went through the process of hooking up DSL (AARGH!) but it works great and I'm babbling, which brings me to a great way to stop babbling in
KISS OFF! Erin and CC you did a great job on that! No one can describe a scene briefly and get to the heart of it like CC! And it was a great plot. Just how much does Perry know, hmmm?, he and Jimmy were whispering in his office! Oh man, one of the best revelation stories I've read. When you can post this, it will be on my Kerth list for sure. You two need to write some more together! notworthy sloppy

Super Who - great challenge story from Wendy and a brilliant solution by Tank! Inspired! I laughed when the scissors came out!

If at first you don't succeed... by ML Thompson

I have read this great story two weeks ago, but only now I'm able to find some time to post my comment, mostly because I made a comment-during-reading sort of thing, so few words of praise have become a very long post. I loved this story, it's another great work of a very talented author, her use of the "Twas the night before Mxymas" ' plot is fabulous, and a great idea is setting the story early in season one, when Clark is still trying to understand what being a superhero means, and his relationship with Lois is at the beginning.
I especially love her ability to insert humour in dramatic situation:

Quote
Clark let out a slow breath when she closed the door to the conference room and gestured him to a chair. He remained standing. It hadn't worked telling her about the time loop as Clark. But Superman... Surely she would believe if Superman told her about the time loop.
* * * * * * * * *
Okay, so maybe he was wrong, Superman thought as he stood in his padded room
Clark is in a difficult situation, days are repeating, nobody but him knows it, and Lois thinks he's crazy; but a quick smile can mitigated the despair in the story.

As I was reading, I continued to write down my comments and thoughts; I'll try to re-write them here, quoting the parts I loved the most:

Quote
"So you saw Clark?" she asked.
"Yes."
"Did he seem all right to you?"
He was caught off guard by the question. She actually sounded concerned about Clark. "He seemed fine. Why?" He hadn't been able to help asking.
"He's just been acting... I don't know. I guess I'm just worried about him."
Suddenly he wondered if he'd discounted an obvious way of getting her help without having her lock him up. "Well... If I tell you something, you can't say anything."
"I promise," Lois instantly responded.
"He did say something to me." This way if she suggested locking Clark up, Superman could talk her out of it.
This is probably a turning point, where Superman asks Lois's help, but she is the one who'd be able to break the time circle, with her concern for Clark.

Quote
"I'm just not... I know I'll probably hate myself in the morning, but I'm not... I mean, I'm crazy about you. You have to know that. But there's someone... I'm just not ready yet."
Clark closed his eyes. 'There's someone... I'm just not ready.' Obviously she was in conflict between her feelings for him and someone else. An old boyfriend maybe? Probably.
Again Lois is unconsciously trying to break the time loop, and that invisible bond which connects her to Clark is becoming more evident. Obviously, Clark is a lunkhead, and he thinks that "someone" means "someone else"!

Quote
He suddenly wondered what would happen if... Without worrying about the consequences - after all, there were no consequences - he pulled Lois into his arms, seizing her lips with his. For a moment, there was no reaction. And then he felt it. Her hands slipped up his chest and around his neck even as her lips softened under his. He followed the first kiss with a second, slipping his tongue into her slightly open mouth, desperate to connect with her as Clark. It was a good ten minutes before he pulled back.
Lois stumbled out of his arms, fighting to regain her balance.
"Lois, I..."
YAY! My first thought: Lois and Clark's kiss feels right, much more than Lois and Superman's one; perhaps now they are going to work together... or she'll slap him.

Quote
Her hand suddenly landed hard across his face.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" she demanded.
Okay, but she has responded to his kiss! Mmmm, promising!

Quote
Rolling over, he looked through the wall and door to see Lois standing outside. What was she doing here? For a moment, he was tempted to answer. Then he decided against it. What was the point? He didn't particularly want to talk to her.
"Clark, are you in there?"
Stubbornly, he rolled back over and closed his eyes. A minute or so later, he heard strange noises coming from outside the door. Unable to resist the curiosity, he glanced again at the door just in time to see Lois break in, carrying a brown paper bag.
"Hello? Anyone home?" she called from the living room, even as she commenced her descent towards his bedroom. He quickly put on his glasses.
"What are you doing here?" he asked when she appeared in the doorway to his room.
"Well, when you didn't come in today... I asked Perry. He said you didn't even call. Didn't you know you're supposed to call if you're sick?"
Very promising!

Quote
He gave his head a shake, making his way to the cupboard to pull out a pot. "I can take it from here. I'm sure you must have somewhere you need to be."
"No."
Clark stopped in mid-motion, looking at Lois. The Superman auction was tonight. So what was she doing here?
Perhaps we have the Waffy Moment of this story! Lois, early in season one, cares more about Clark than Superman auction! This is true love!

Quote
In other news, Radio Italia has announced today that the Leaning Tower of Pisa is no longer leaning. That's right, folks. No one knows how, but apparently someone came in and straightened it. Italian officials are..."
eek Ehi! Hands off the tower! I'm practically born under the Tower of Pisa! Yes, It's true! If you are at the top of the tower, looking towards the sea, at your left you have a group of buildings surrounded by gardens: these are S. Chiara Hospitals and I was born there! So you cannot mess with my tower! :p
Ok, ok, I'm kidding! wink Seriously, this is a sore point: too many people have had a hand in it during this last fifteen years, trying to straighten it a little; after underground infiltrations, steel cables, armours, it's miraculous that the poor tower is still here! We can be very possessive of our Torre and our Piazza dei Miracoli!

Finally: Cla-ark? Hoo hoo? Strangest things are happening all around the world, don't you think you should have to investigate the causes? Well, I know by now you've almost completely lost hope for tomorrow, and you are totally upset, but still... Okay, yes, I wouldn't care about it too. Poor Clark.

Quote
"Nothing. Look, Lois, come out with me tonight. Call it a date. Call it a trial date. Call it... friends having dinner. Call it anything you like. But just agree to spend some time with me."
She continued to watch him for a moment, as if looking for the angle. "Okay," she finally said, her voice taking on a slightly shy tone.
You could almost hear me saying "Better and better!" at this point! smile1

Quote
"Clark, what are you doing?"
Clark turned towards her from where he'd stepped away from the protection of the building while they waited for their cab to stand, hands outstretched, looking up as the rain poured down around him. If there was one thing the time loop had taught him, it was to appreciate the moment. After all, that was all there was. He lowered his hands as the rain ran unheeded down his face. The door opened and two more patrons stepped outside, pulling up collars and taking out an umbrella before they dashed together towards a nearby car.
The door behind them slowly closed, allowing Lois and Clark hear the soft melody coming from inside. Clark suddenly smiled.
"Dance with me, Lois."
Awwwww, dancing in the rain... Lois has a good voice, she could sing! It doesn't matter if the rain is damaging my dress, destroying my expensive new shoes, and messing my make-up, I'm dancing with Clark!

Quote
"Well, here we are." Lois removed her keys and began unlocking her door. Once it was open, she turned towards him. "Would you like to come in? We could open a bottle of wine." Her voice trembled slightly as if she was unsure how her offer might be received.
"It's getting late, Lois. I really should..." He gestured in the direction of the stairs.
"Oh, of course," Lois said immediately, feigning an air of indifference. "Yeah, I shouldn't have even..." Her voice trailed off.
"Goodnight, Lois," Clark said, turning away before he could change his mind and walking towards the stairs.
I can not believe it! He's protecting his heart, but still... Poor Lois, she'll remember nothing in two days, but now she's hurt! Poor poor Lois, poor Clark. I don't know how you are going to solve this mess, even if, thanks to Wendy's beautiful trailer, I know the causes.

Quote
And so to find myself standing on that platform, time and time again..."
He closed his eyes and drew in a long slow breath. Her hand on his cheek caused him to look up. She'd left her position of safety against the wall to approach him and there were tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Clark," she said softly.
"It's not your fault, Lois. It's just the way things are." He looked away.
"No. No, Clark." Her hand went under his chin so that he was forced to look back at her. "I don't accept that this is the way things are. And I can't believe you would either. Together we will find a way to stop this bounce."
YES! Now that they are working together, everything will be right in the world (including Canadian Prime Minister' clothes, Mount Rushmore' faces, and my tower!

Quote
Finally, there was the way Lois kept stealing shy looks at him. Every time he'd catch her watching him over the top of her coffee cup or from behind her computer monitor, his heart would race. It was not the look she normally gave Superman. Nor was it the way she had always looked at Clark. It was something new and although he wasn't entirely sure how to interpret it and knew that shortly the look would be gone, for the first time in what felt like months, he had hope for the future.
Finally, he's feeling hope again! But what is Lois feeling? Probably she's upset thinking that if they don't succeed during this time loop, she'll lose her new discovered feelings for Clark!

Quote
Lois wasn't entirely certain how she ended up sitting outside the same restaurant she had passed the previous night. El Tambo del Oro. But when she'd left work, the car had just seemed to drive itself there. Pulling off to the side of the road, she sat, staring at the front entrance for a long time, trying to figure out what it was about the place that seemed to call to her.
Finally, unable to stand not knowing what it was that felt so familiar about this place, what felt so good about this place, she got out of the car and walked across the street. She was surprised to discover that her pulse rate rose when she was again standing in front of the door.
Please Lois, enter inside this restaurant! You will know what is drawing you there, you'll feel the wonderful new sensations you had discovered with Clark!

Quote
"Dance with me, Clark."
Yes! You're not going to start again the time loop now, are you?

Quote
"I just think... I hate to say this, but I think we should wait until the next loop. Then you can put this plan into action."
Noooo! You're killing me here! frown

Quote
Her grip tightened as she placed her lips next to his ear. "The person who stopped me from making love to Superman was you."
So, so sweet, and heartbreaking! We know it, obviously, but I really didn't see her revelation coming!

Quote
She unexpectedly felt slightly rattled. Still, she pushed on. This was important. For a reason she couldn't put into words, she was not willing to wait another day. "You know, Clark. I've been thinking. There's this Spanish restaurant I've been dying to try. And I was sort of wondering... Well, would you like to go with me?" She felt heat rise in her cheeks. Still, it was out there now. She waited nervously for his response.
"I'd love to, Lois," Clark said.
She met his smile with her own, suddenly knowing in her gut that everything was going to work out.
W O N D E R F U L ! I'd like to think she'll remember everything she saw, and heard, and felt during the time loops, even if we'll never know for sure!

I loved your great story, ML, you could keep me captivated from the beginning to the end; thank you for a very nice moment!

Well, I'm not entirely sure that you'll never know what happens next. I do have an idea for a possible sequel. Of course, there is no point writing it until after the year is up for posting. But then... maybe, maybe. laugh

As far as the DVD is concerned, I haven't had a chance to do much more than glance at it. But hearing about all the great stories, I have to admit, I am looking forward to it.

"Will You Still Love Me?" - great job, Jenni! I really enjoyed the twist on the standard timeline. Very enjoyable!
"If at First You Don't Succeed..." Simona said most of it, but it was a great ride ML. I'd look forward to a sequel. That old Myx is a devil!
Sorry I'm not reading WHAMs at this point. I appreciate the warning label.

Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has posted fdk on 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?'. It is much appreciated.

Oh, and JenniJac, thank you for the trailer... it was appreciated too. wink

I still haven't found much time to read many stories because I'm too busy trying to write, but I will be back later with fdk. smile

Yours Jenni

Jenni, I'm still working my way through the DVD. I sneaked a peak at Will You Still Love Me? and it looks pretty good. I'm going to read it when I can squeeze in a little time -- probably after Mom is in bed.

I have to apologise for my tardiness, too. It seems that since I got the DVD in my hot little paws, that was the signal for the universe to dump all kinds of urgent projects on me. :p

But I haven't forgotten and I'm keen to get started on reading/watching/offering up fdk.

Hmmmmmm. Might be just the project for a (so the forecast promises) rainy weekend...

I am sadly very behind on this. I got the DVD a couple weekends ago, and promptly read the fics--and forgot to leave any fdk. I forgot to even watch the vids yet! So I'm going to have to do fdk bit by bit.

One fic that really stood out to me was Nan's Halloween. I loved the look at that what-if scenario, and how it was resolved. It's just too bad that Lois couldn't keep the memory of the truth. And since she couldn't, I'm very much hoping to see a sequel to it. smile

ML's If At First You Don't Succeed took me by surprise and won me over--I'm not a huge fan of Mxy stories, and usually don't read them, but I found myself enjoying this one.

There are so many others, but I think I'll have to re-read--my memory's already hazy on 'em all.

Edit: Just watched the Super Speedy Adventured and ROFLed. Very funny and great to watch! Great job, Paul! rotflol

Thank you, Doranwen. I haven't gotten much feedback on Halloween, so I don't know if many people read it, but I'm glad to know I didn't waste my time writing it. My time for writing has been rather severely curtailed, but it's not a permanent state, so hopefully I'll be able to write a sequel to Halloween, someday.

Well, somewhat later than I figured, but here we go (belatedly):

I had plans to be methodical and do this alphabetically, but then I looked at the posters first. So now I'm working on reading the stories that the posters made me want to read, first of all. laugh

Starting with:

Me And My Big Mouth by Julie Stars

Julie, this was a lot of fun and very cute. Poor Lois. She does get herself into an emotional tangle, doesn't she? And then we have those final few paragraphs and...the kiss. Lovely. All in all this was a fun little moment leading to a cute resolution (and a kiss!) and it left me smiling WAFFily to myself. (Thank goodness there's no one else in this room but me. goofy )

The Gripe Sheet by Marnie

Marnie, this was absolutly hilarious. I knew I was on to a good thing when this appeared before we were two sentences in:

Quote
He had been really racking up the spandex hours,
whinging

Beautiful, Sara. Truly poetic.

Like, Mrs. Mosley, I'd like to know, too!

We're checking with Annette. It would depend on a/ how much work it would give her and b/ the cost, given that she wouldn't be sending out disks in bulk, as previously, but as one-offs.

Watch this space. wink

Dream A Little Dream by Irene Dutch

Well, it's always a pleasure to read anything by you, Irene. You've always been at the top of my list of favourite authors. And you didn't disappoint me any with this one.

I was intrigued with the beginning as it sought to answer a question that's bugged me at times, too. Namely, Clark proposing to Lois before telling her he was Superman. The Gingerbread Man was inspired! laugh I was goofy

Lex as the Big Bad Wolf. Who better? Inspir...um...inventive!

Quote
“Who said anything about getting in bed?” Lois shouted into the sky. “Not me! I have three rules! I’ve broken all three of them, but I have them anyway!”
Quote
“Grandma, are you sitting alone in the dark brooding about Granddaddy again? I told you. You need to forget about Mrs. Belcanto once and for all.” Lois turned on a light.
ROTFL! I could go on all day quoting my favourite lines from this one.

And then the ending with the 'perfect dream' - LOL! Just perfect.

What an original, inventive way to get Lois thinking and on the right track, Irene! Fun, cute and very funny. I loved it! Soon as you get to post it, it's going on my Kerth list.
