No singes from me, Betsy. This was absolutely wonderful!

Please do keep writing whenever you can. And congrats on the soon-to-be new arrival smile

Betsy,

Wonderful, i am all misty eyed and smiling and look like a dork...god that was just so sweet! And so well done, that is such a good way to explain to a child that they were wanted at all times when they have been adopted... notworthy notworthy notworthy

Betsy,

I really should know better than to read fic in a public place, the tears in my eyes are a great big indication of the fact that I'm not working/reading fic. This was wonderful! You managed to capture Jonathan and Martha perfectly, and I loved Jonathan's analogy at the end!

You posted! I have to admit I've been waiting for this one since you sent me that little excerpt, eager to see the entire thing. And I was not disappointed. Superb, Betsy!

Beautifully lyrical and poignant and heart-breaking and heart-warming all rolled into one wonderful vignette. smile1

Brava!

Quote
Eyes watering, Clark jumped up and hugged his dad. Jonathan's big arms wrapped his son in a warm, loving hug. And Clark clung to his father - his real father in every sense that a father could be.
Still got a huge lump in my throat from this final paragraph. mecry

Good luck with that other little creation you're working up too. wink

Awwwww. Betsy, that was great! No singes from me, either. The dog story was inspired -- great way to assure Clark that he was wanted and valued without getting into specifics of the alien/relative's kid stuff.

Good job! And congrats on your soon-to-be-new-arrival. Let us know when the FoLC arrives!

Oh my gosh, Betsy, that was so cute! I love the analogy with the dog! It was so sweet!

Wow, Betsy. That was... cute and poignant and I had tears in my eyes at the end... what a lovely way to deal with the difficulty. Thanks for posting it smile

"You told me you weren't like other men," she said, shaking her head at him when the storm of laughter had passed.
He grinned at her - a goofy, Clark Kent kind of a grin. "I have a gift for understatement."
"You can say that again," she told him.
"I have a...."
"Oh, shut up."

wonderful story, betsy. very beautiful. i really like jonathan's explanation. really well done.

i know it's not as important as the other stuff, but i especially like this turn of phrase:

Quote
Martha could see the layers of 'Stoic Kent' forming on the boy.
great job on the whole story. smile

This is very nice, Betsy. The bond between father and sun is special indeed and you showed it wonderful with Jonathan and Clark. And the dog story is very cool.

Thanx for posting!

Beautifully poignant. Kids can be such creeps sometimes, can't they? Clark surely faced many days like this. And Jonathan... ~happy sigh~ That's the Jon Kent from LnC that I absolutely adore. Wonderful characterization!

What? You'll be busy writing something new? :::Hopeful look:::

Yeah yeah, I know, you'll be a busy mommy. But I can still hope that between diapers and feedings and burpings... and whatever else mommies do... you'll be able to write some more.

What she said! Really enjoyed it!

Good luck with labor, not to mention the baby.

See you back when the baby allows! wink

Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you, like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says, "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly.
