My goodness, this part just hit me hard!  Poor Clark!!! So glad he has the support of his parents. There are so many wonderful and sad and interesting details that you added here. I loved how you had him overhear the conversation with his parents, and then It had been the first time in years that he’d felt truly good about himself. Like he had a purpose in life. Like he could do something more meaningful than wait for the next hiccup. Oh my gosh, more This part also: “Mom,” he said quietly, his voice hoarse.
She was in his arms, before he could protest or even voice a word of warning. Clark melted into her embrace and the tension of the past days seeped out of him. Tears slipped down his cheeks.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” he whispered.
“You chose exactly the right place,” she reassured him tenderly. I really love this series so much, and I hope we keep getting these little glimpses (I wish we could have two Fridays every week!!!). I'm looking forward to, at some point, seeing Clark happy  Thank you for sharing!!! -Bek

Wow, that was a few gut punches  , but I'm glad he returned home!! And I’m glad they're as supportive as ever. I really hope he meets up with Lois soon. Maybe revealing it isn’t magic would be . . . eventually beneficial. Granted...... Anyway way, can't wait for more!!

That was an emotional chapter! I felt Clark’s pain. He’s exactly where he needs to be. There’s nothing like a mother’s hug. He’s so hard in himself. Those people would be dead if he wasn’t there to save them.
I hope Clark meets up with Lois again soon and that he finds happiness.
I love this universe and I can’t wait for more!

Wow, that was a few gut punches Yeah, I guess he needs them to leave his comfort zone. I really hope he meets up with Lois soon. That's what the gut punching is all about.  I really love this series so much, and I hope we keep getting these little glimpses (I wish we could have two Fridays every week!!!). Oh, thank you. But frankly, I'm glad that I manage to write one story a week. It's a nice compliment, though. There’s nothing like a mother’s hug. You're right about that. Initially, I wanted to call this story "the Magic of Hugs". But then my beta pointed out that you'd hope for more Lois and Clark moments and would likely be disappointed. I promised myself to use the title another time.

I really like this series. MagiKal is a brilliant and original take on the Superman story, and you're handling it very well. I'm eager to see what comes next. Will Houdini have something to do with his uncontrolled power bursts? Is there red Kryptonite embedded under his skin somewhere? (exposed to green, vulnerable, fell on a sliver of red, small puncture wound, got away, healed with the sliver in his arm or leg) Or is Houdini the one with the red K? (That's assuming that red K is responsible for this situation.)
Houdini's a terrific dog, by the way. We had a Golden Retriever/Lab mix for twelve years and he was wonderful. Houdini reminds me of our boy Sam. And it's brilliant that you've named the dog after the most famous illusionist of the 20th century.
This string of stories is just one more good reason to be happy there's a Friday every week.
