OP mrsMxyzptlk Columnist M Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 624 US	Story I've had this story sitting around for a few months now, and I finally got back to it today to polish it up. I wrote it in a fit of pique after reading yet another story where Lois blows up at Clark when he tells her that he's Superman, only for Clark to bow and scrape to get back into her good graces. I understand why Lois would get mad about it, but I don't think that Clark should be a doormat when she does. So I wrote a reveal scene with a crazy-angry Lois where Clark retorts the way I always want him to. "It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all. Then...he shoots fire from the skies, and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. And how fortunate we all are that it does not occur to him." -Batman (in Superman/Batman #3 by Jeph Loeb)

Wearing glasses was actually quite normal compared to everything else! Yet, despite the obstacles of growing up with these amazing (and frightening) abilities he was able with the patient assistance of Martha and Jonathan, to mature into a man with principles and a desire to help. Not too bad if I say so myself. Lois does overreact to a certain degree and that's because as Superman, Clark spent a lot of time with her, making her feel as if there could be more between them someday. Big mistake. Quote "Um, yeah. I guess I have to after that." She stared at Clark in shock for a few moments more before her expression changed to confusion, then anger. "You've been Superman this whole time, and you didn't tell me," she fumed. "Why didn't you tell me? Don't you trust me? I thought I meant something to you, Clark -- Superman -- whoever you are! You've been lying to me for years! For the entire time I've known you! Did it amuse you to go behind my back like that? To play me for a fool?" The lady has trust issues. But still, Clark was keeping the secret to protect her and those he loved safe from criminals out for revenge and the media which was hungry for a story. Great job Mrs Mxyzptlk! Morgana A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

So glad to see Clark explaining to Lois the real reason he kept things from her. Maybe Clark in the show never had the opportunity to see it that way. It always bothered me that Lois never seemed to understand that he was going to tell her and that fact mattered. But then if it had really happened this way, what strife and tension would we have had to look forward to instead? Excellent piece! "Oh my gosh! Authors really do use particular words on purpose!" ~Me, when I started writing a book.
