Mark this day on your calandars, FoLCs.
Smallville. Actually. Got. Good.

I kid you not. Lane and Kent, together for the first time, have made this show kick butt. Well, at least this episode. And the last one was pretty awesome too. I just love everything about Erica Durance's Lois Lane. She's smart and sassy and opinionated and she's got more guts than any character I've ever seen. She actually DUG UP Chloe's grave! It doesn't get much better than that. She totally makes the show.

Dare I say it... it's almost sacreligious... but... but... I actually like this Lois better than Teri Hatcher's. I know. Hard to believe. Impossible, really. But true. She's just so pickin' awesome during every scene. Investigating with Clark. The classic triangle in the Kent's driveway. And the shower scene. Oh, the shower scene. Five words: Naked Clark. Lois in flannel. The sheer genious of it all. I really didn't think Gough and Millar had it in them.

Okay, rip me apart. I know you're all thinking it. How could I have such praise for this show? How could I turn my back on our beloved, cancelled show? Well, I'm not, exactly. I'm just... not hating it *nearly* as much.

I enjoyed this ep too. Except for the meteor mutant...sigh...and I really wish they'd have killed off Lionel. Something tells me he's going to find a way to get back at Lex.

Noo! Not another praise thread...I really want to see it but I have band practice during it. You all are supposed to tell me it's horrible and I'm not missing anything! LOL. I'm glad it's awesome.

Carry on, Smallville fans...one of these years, I might get to watch it.

I have a band rehearsal on WEd nites too, so I tape it - God forbid my VCR doesn't work!!

I took think that Erica is giving Smallville an edge it didn't have before. Erica's Lois seems attracted to Clark but of course would never admit it - Clark's "doth protest too much" to Lana when he tells her he can't stand Lois - yeah, right! Lois is everything Lana isn't - Lana is a china doll, Lois is alive and vibrant and wouldn't we all love to be Lois Lane?

I wish they would just get rid of these FOTWs and I would have like to have seen the murder trial -

I wish the writers would stay away from Kryptonite-induced freaks - but I'm happy Lois is there! Yeah!

I wasn't going to post anything until tomorrow after I got some sleep but I made the mistake of coming here just to see if anyone else had posted and couldn't get the grin off my face all over again after reading Anna's opening post. Yes, the same grin that was there during this entire episode of Smallville.

Listen up, Smallville PTB: I want Lois in the opening credits and I want her there NOW!! Screw this "recurring character" crap -- make this girl a regular YESTERDAY!

I love this Lois. Love, love, love, LOVE her!!! I can hardly describe how much.

She rocks. She more than rocks. She boulders! laugh

The shower scene did me in ... the yelp that Clark gave, the grin on Lois's face, the "you're wearing my shirt!", the "I didn't mind the last time I saw Clark Junior" (I'm still ROTFL over that one) and oh ... OH ... the way Clark is trying to hide her behind the door when his mom came by and Lois just pops out from behind him, grinning like the cat that ate the canary. (Or maybe the cat that has a really good rear-view of the canary. wink )

But that all pales in comparison to the two of them standing in the living room with Clark's parents (Lois still in his shirt, LOL!), trying to explain why they were taking a shower together ("two showers! We each took a shower!") in the middle of the day. <eg> I could have fallen off the couch, I was laughing so hard.

But there was so much more to love! Her digging up Chloe's grave (I rolled my eyes over her actually succeeding but I gave them credit for characterization), the martial arts moves (shades of our Lois!!), the working with Clark to kill the bad guy (major shades of what's to come for them!).

She calls him "Smallville"! LOL, I love it. That's from the comics, right? I think Lois also calls Clark that on The Animated Series, too. They are really drawing from all the incarnations, which is great.

And, of course, Lana pegging their attraction right from the start. I almost liked her just then ... the grin on her face when Clark started sputtering about how awful Lois is ("She's ... bossy!") had me laughing and her observation that "all the good ones start that way" (when Clark protested he and Lois couldn't stand each other) had me cheering.

OK, what else do I have to rave about?

Oh, yes, my precious Lex ... sniff, sniff, he looked so sad when Clark was being so mean to him (LOL, now tell me, in what other incarnation of Superman could you ever type that line with a straight face?). He really wants to redeem himself with Clark, but now Clark is convinced that Lex is his enemy. Wouldn't it be ironic if it was *Clark* who made Lex finally turn bad by his rejection of their friendship? That kind of makes my head spin ...

And finally, Lionel ... can I see a show of hands? I can't possibly be the only one who yelled, when Lionel got shanked, "Stab him again!" My husband really got a laugh out of that one, even as he told me how awful I was for saying it. <g>

All right, this post is longer than the episode, so I'll head to bed now. With happy Lois and Clark thoughts. smile

ooooh!!!! I loved it!

Lois and Clark were investigating together! ohhh happy, happy, happy.

The bathroom scene and the scene that followed were just too great! Lois called him a boy scout! Where as LC Lois seemed mortified that anyone would think the two of them were together (in GGGofH), ED's Lois went right along with it...futhuring it even. It was beautiful. She's already got Clark tounge-tied!

I loved the guilty little look that Clark gave his dad about the helicopter. It was soooo cute.

There was one part where I had to shake my head a bit thinking I had heard Dean... The part where Lana drives Lois back to Clark's house. Lois gets out of the car and Clark sees her and he says her name. It was EXACTLY how L&C Clark said it when ever he was surprised to see Lois somewhere. Even the look on his face was the same!

I think the talk b/w Lana and Clark at the end was my favorite conversation b/w the two of them

Lana could just see the chemistry b/w Clark and Lois. And then he started listing all those faults and you could just see that even HE didn't believe that there was nothing there. And of course it reminded me of L&C where Clark was talking to his parents about Lois for the first time!

*sigh* /me wants to fast forward to them really being together...

yes! and the way Clark's eyes lingered on Lois legs below his shirt... Men love to see an attractive woman (hopefully their attractive woman wink ) in the man's shirt.

Anna...I found myself thinking the same thing... eek ...there are a lot of things that I like better. I'm glad you said it first though... thumbsup I know she's at least gong to be there till episode 8... slight spoiler that really doesn't "spoil" anything: In an upcoming episode, Lois is going to be known by another name somewhat...not saying why/how/details.
Only that the other name is Breanna!!!!! which of course I am TOTALLY excited about!

I know!!! Ditto!!

I'll be back. Not enough time for all the gushing I intend to do. Just this, they are fun together. Give the show a sense of lightness that has been missing. And I like dark- dark mythology, dark suits on Lex, dark violence set to classical music or opera...that's always a clue, isn't it? Beautiful music starts playing, things are going to get...well...dark. Love dark Lex, dark Kal-el...dark hair and piercing blue eyes and bed of muscles all ripply...wait.

No time! No gushing! Just this...they're fun together, Lois and Clark. And since all around them is dark enough for me- stabbings! poor tied and gagged Chloe hanging from the...thingy! Blade boy! Lionel in jail <sniff>! Pale Lex, 'I think he's my enemy,' who needs a wee bit of sun...And inside all of that this great, light duo of Lois and Clark.

She's...bossy! And stuck-up, and rude! Loved how outraged he is here.

Ok. No time! No gushing! Just this. That look when Jonathan says, "Just tell me you didn't crash that helicopter,'... fun.

People, you are getting carried away!
All this looks good right now, but remember, Lois is only on the show for half the season - she's expendable, and the so-called creators of S...ville are on record as intending to undermine the Lois Lane/ Clark Kent relationship. evil They'll disappear her mid season after trashing that relationship, and inflating and distorting the Lana even more.

So don't be sucked in by these 2 eps! The PTB are in the rug pulling business and mean no good! It's not too late: put down your remote controls now!

[However, If you're into TW's beauty, as I believe a few of you are laugh just tape the show, then edit out everything except lovely TW clips.]

Have to say, though, Clark is gonna be real surprised when the Lana turns out to be his half-sister. jump

I can't agree enough that this ep was fantastic! I'm in the 'love Lois' boat! She's awesome.

I was thinking the same thing! I thought, 'now he must have studied up from the pros!' laugh

And the conversation between Clark and Lana... I was almost looking for him to continue with, 'and she's pigheaded, stubborn...' then mumble 'brilliant' after Lana was gone! That would have totally rocked! thumbsup

Can't say enough about Lex. He's like every bad boy fantasy you've ever had! wink And I gloated with him as he watched his father be escorted into general population! dance

OK, no one's mentioned this, so I will. Is it just me or does anyone think Clark is off on who his enemy is destined to be? Yeah, I thought Lex-- he's always been Sman's enemy, right? Then I thought well maybe Lionel because they'd changed so much with this show. Then back to Lex. But now I think those are both wrong. What if his enemy is Lana?! dizzy I mean this whole tatoo thing... and the conversation Clark had with his folks about his enemy... and all the mystery with Lana... And she was in the CAVE!! When Clark turned to leave, he was staring at that picture of the snake and whatever it was. I think it might be a sign. Has Jor-El recruited Lana? Was she the 'one' from the start? I would be brilliant. Clark somewhat trusts Lana, would never, ever believe her to be the one to... whatever it is they plan for his enemy to do. (Wouldn't Lana haters everywhere love that?!) And it would make Lex lovers so happy! evil

But it all doesn't make sense from what little we know about Jor-El. And by that I mean Jor from the fifties ep. He was a lot like Clark. Which brings me right back to wondering if it's really Jor-El that keeps mucking with Clark! party I am SO glad there is a Lois!!

OK, I'm late to the party, so my gushing is going to be kind of stale.

I said it to CC and I'll say it again to all of you. Lois Lane is the best thing to come to Smallville since Naked Clark and Naked Lex.

I absolutely love this character. She is everything that I would expect Lois Lane to be and then even more. Tenacious, overly self-confident (didn't you love the remark at the end about how "she" saved Chloe, totally leaving out Clark's hand in it?), witty, sarcastic, gorgeous, and smart as a whip. Erica Durance has completely nailed this character.

I can't compare her with Teri Hatcher because I see these as two different genres almost. To me, LnC had a lot more of a comedic touch to it, and I think TH gave Lois a slightly "dingbatty" air (and I don't mean stupid, just kind of whacky/zany) which was perfect for the show and perfect against Dean Cain's Clark. I saw her kind of as the funny man against DC's earnest Clark. But I see Smallville as darker and more "real" (ok, you know what I mean!) and ED's Lois is perfect. She rants but it's not silly. She digs up graves, but she doesn't crawl into caskets with little people. See what I mean?

Favorite scenes - every single one with Lois and Clark in them. Loved the two of them standing in front of Martha and Jonathan looking so guilty. Loved Clark trying to backpedal his way out of the whole shower scene while Lois just smirked. Also love when she left and gave him the "Way to go!" when it had been all her fault. She's so cool!

And even the scene at the end, with Clark and Lana, Lois owned that scene. Because all while Clark was protesting, he meant not a single word of it. I think Tom Welling deserves mad props for pulling off that whole thing brilliantly - he gave it just the perfect touch of outrage tinged with "OMG I love this woman even if I don't know it yet."

Which leads me to the chemistry between Lois and Clark - it is bloody magnificent. Even when they are arguing you expect that any second they are going to start pashing madly. And already - two epis into the season - I'm just dying for them to do that.

One big thing I'm seeing. Did anyone else notice how much of Kal-El seems to have remained in Clark? He didn't hesitate at all when attacking either the black-night soldiers or that creepy guy at the very end. He seems to have a new confidence in his abilities and a fearlessness about using them. No more of this "Oh, what should I do?" deer-in-the-headlights look, rather a determined stride and a take-charge attitude. I'm so loving this! Plus...they've kept the cool Kal-El hair. Thank you, TPTB!! Thank you thank you thank you thank you. <sigh>.

OK, rest of the show. Lana didn't annoy me so much, except at the end. What is she doing playing that guy, Jason? Leading him to think she left because of their relationship, then only as he's about to walk out the door telling him that it wasn't him. Why the heck did she "have" to leave Paris? Have to say that I do like Lana's wardrobe much better, and she seems to have grown up a bit. She was actually - dare I say - wise during that cave scene with Clark. Still not digging the whole Lana as part of SM mythos stuff at all.

Lex. Sweet, sexy Lex. I love that he's completely come into his own. Always before when he would have an interaction with Lionel, you saw doubt and uncertaintly written on Lex's face. Not so much now. He has Lionel under his thumb and doesn't seem to be intimidated by him at all anymore.

OK, big WTF moment with that Freak of The Week Terminator-villian wannabe. So completely unnecessary. Lionel could just have had a bunch of evil thugs after Chloe and I would have believed it. Instead we have absolutely random freak guy out of nowhere. Boo hiss. Only wrong note in a perfect episode, IMO.

Glad to see Chloe is back. Wonder how she's going to feel once those sparks start flying off Clark and Lois?

Carol, I see what you're saying. There is no possible way that Lois and Clark are going to fight and bicker for a little while, then all of the sudden be The Lois and Clark couple we all know that they eventually become. There has to be much angst and suffering. Plus, of course, there is Miles and Gough's complete love and obsession with Lana that can't just be given up as a lost cause. Even so, I have to say that already I feel this amazing tension between LnC and want them together. Perhaps that's because I know that eventually they do end up together. I don't think I'll mind being teased a bit. I can tell you this, M&G are utter morons if they don't take advantage of ED's Lois Lane. I can honestly say that if I didn't like her so much (and looking at the pretty, pretty boys) I'd be likely to not go out of my way to watch SV if it's all about the Clana. LOL about your remark that Lana is Clark's half-sister!!! That would be too funny.

<sigh> This is going to be such a kick-butt season!

Loved all the Lois and Clark scenes and of course like it's been mentioned..my favorite line..'She's BOSSY!' HYSTERICAL.. razz

Oh.
My.
God.

Count me as one Lana-hater and Lex-lover who would totally love that. <g> Holy cow, what a theory! (And it would make me feel a little better about her being part os his destiny, which I still totally hate if it's anything else.)

Of course, I can't be the only one who has been seeing some Lex/Lana chemistry, or dare I say flirting, between them (end of last season, beginning of this one). Maybe it won't be Lois who Clark has to tell to "Get in bed with the devil!" but Lana. wink

Yes! Thank you for saying that! I noticed it when he was striding so purposedly across the field towards the safe house. He was so ... focused. I liked it. And I loved how he baited Lois over how she didn't have him all figured out yet. Total shades of L&C's Pilot episode ... with a twist, of course. smile

And I'm with you on the chemistry, Lynn -- I almost stopped watching this show when it was all about the CLana; boring! And TPTB would have to be blind not to see how awesome ED is as Lois and how the sparks fly with her and TW's Clark. They might have only signed her to 13 eps originally, but if they see good possibilities, they'll find a way to keep her. I just hope the rest of the SV-watching population is reacting as strongly to Lois as we are. I've heard the ratings are slipping, and I just hope they don't try to blame that on Lois!

I happened to cruise by the Kryptonsite MBs this morning, just curious as to the buzz about last night's episode. I don't really go there often and I never post there because the level of intelligent conversation is fairly low. I have to say that I was discouraged to read how many posters thought that the epi was either "meh" or just didn't like it at all. It absolutely baffles me because I personally enjoyed it so much. I only hope that M&G go to other sites as well and get a broader read, because I stopped reading the posts over there out of sheer frustration.

What I'm hypthosizing, though, is that a lot of people who really love Lana and the entire Clana thing really resent the introduction of Lois. So we are going to end up with a huge schism - those who love Lois and ED as Lois and everything about the show with Lois in it (count me in that group) and those who hate her because she represents the reality that they cannot face - that Clark never ends up with Lana.

It does scare me when I hear that the ratings are slipping, especially now that I'm enjoying it so much. I want to jump up and down and wave my arms and say "Hey!! Over here! I'm watching and I love it. Keep up the good work!!" Maybe it's because I'm part of the "older demographic" that I so much appreciate the direction that the show is taking, but I'm afraid it is the younger demographic that they will be trying to please.

My only hope is that we have at least this season and perhaps next for sure because everyone is signed for 5 seasons. Even if the ratings slip, hopefully - hopefully, they'll keep it around. Then again, if they get rid of Lois because they bow to the Clana pressure, I won't care much if it goes off the air.

Hey Lynne...don't worry too much. A lot of people still liked Lois a lot, even some Clana fans converted to Clois. To be honest, all the fan reaction sounds mixed there were people who didn't like it and people who loved it. I enjoyed the episode because the Lois/Clark banter was so GREAT! Without those LnC scenes I wouldn't be enjoying the show that much.

Let's all hope it does better next week. Lois is such a good addition to the show and I really want more people to love her as they get to know the character more. Al/Miles really should check out the Lois and Clark forums, but so far the WB forums have a lot of pro-Clois people posting on fan reaction and whenever someone posts a hate thread about Lois there are people quick to support the character.

K-site though irritating at times is a lot more tame compared to DTS(Mostly pro-Lana hate-Lois) and the WB forums.

After watching 2 episodes of Smallville WITH Lois, I realized something that we all know but don't always verbalize: Clark Kent without Lois Lane to inspire, frustrate, and tantalize him...is boring. A man that is Godlike in looks with unbelievable powers - well he needs to be with someone that's not impressed by all that. Now, you can say that in the comics, Lois is ga-ga over Superman - but they never end up with much time together. It's fleeting moments here and there - he's not real to her. He's a God. He comes and goes - he saves the day and leaves again.

It's Clark, who's real, that she spends the most time with. Clark doesn't want someone to be impressed by his powers - he wants someone that loves him for who he is.

I love that Lois is already calling him "Smallville" just like Lois does in the comics. Lois livens things up. Chloe may have been a clone of her in some ways, but she doesn't have the chemistry with Clark - plus she has that teenage crush on Clark thing going, where Lois, being a few years older, doesn't impress that easily. YOu can see in her face that she knows he's a hottie, since she's seen "Clark JR" (that still cracks me up) but she'll not admit to the attraction. She doesn't cut him any slack.

Here's what I wish the WB would do:

1) Put Clark in a scenario where he has to jump off a building or something to save someone he loves - and in the process, he realizes that he can fly - as Clark not as Kal-El.

2).After graduation, since all the actors in the show are older anyway, skip college and move the show to Metropolis with the current continuity - i.e., he interviews with Perry, who remembers he owes him a favor, and after losing touch with Lois for 4-5 years, realizes that he will be working with her again. The old attraction/animosity thing surfaces but they're older now. She doesn't fall for the glasses in this version, because she met Clark without them. When Superman makes an appearance, she knows who he is right away, and protects his secret because she loves his family and doesn't want anyone close to him to be hurt (including Chloe).

Hey if Saved by the Bell can do: The College years, why can't Smallville do:the Metropolis years. Quite honestly, I don't even want to see TW in the costume. They can allude to Superman and show photos of him, but the series could still focus on Lois and Clark.

Well...not gonna happen I guess, but I can dream...

Hey, Kathy, I have noticed the sparks between Lana and Lex. And yes, if Lana's the real enemy, maybe Clark tells Lex and not Lana at all about getting in bed with the devil! evil

Yes, yes, yes. Lois Lane in SV has made me giddy again about SV. And Clark seems to actually be growing a sense of humor. Of course I have to do with downloads until the possibly later future when SV season 4 is released on DVD here in Australia. But still... happy! Glad to see some positive reactions.
