I just went out to the archive to see that had been archived. I was floored at the lack of stories!

Elisabeth tells me that there are lots of good stories on these boards. But why are they not being archived?

I can understand stories like Shaken Not Stirred by CarolM takes a while to be GEed, but seriously people, some of your stories are not that long and deserve to be available.

I don't have a lot of time anymore to visit the boards and so I thought I'd pop in on the archive to get some finished stuff that I could read at my lesiure instead of waiting for the author to post.

Let's give Labby some real work!

Hehe - OTOH is out to GE - could take 4 years before it makes it to the archive... [but I have faith in Tricia!].

James is right though - do you have anything sitting on *your* HD that hasn't been posted to the archive yet? I found two from January that I just sent to her...

Anyone else? /me eyes Queenie - did you send your recent ones in? Except the LL one is not finished you know...

I keep thinking about it, I just haven't opened the files and email yet. I promise to send them soon!

I've sent in everything I've written, really. And dang, I just counted... I've got 53 stories on there! I think that's more than enough.

"You told me you weren't like other men," she said, shaking her head at him when the storm of laughter had passed.
He grinned at her - a goofy, Clark Kent kind of a grin. "I have a gift for understatement."
"You can say that again," she told him.
"I have a...."
"Oh, shut up."

Each January, a very kind FoLC sends me a list of all stories posted to the mbs but never submitted to the Archive in the previous year.

I then send emails/PMs to all the authors in question reminding them that they are 'outstanding', just in case they've simply forgotten about them, and letting them know that they would still be welcome. (There may be other very good reasons why they weren't submitted of course.)

This January, I sent out around 20 such emails/PMs, but only had 2 replies, so I figured I was wasting my time and gave up.

With the proviso that I haven't opened the list since January, don't have time right now to go check that it's still absolutely 100% up to date, and that some entries may have since been submitted, here are the stories still 'outstanding' for 2008:

Well, I submitted a couple of mine.

Course, I don't think they'll give Labby much work; she could do my entire works while eating breakfast.

I think, therefore, I get bananas.

I have a vague memory of a conversation, Carol. If you can't find the file, you could always copy and paste it from the mbs post.

Woody - edited files on their way back to you.... wink

LOL, yes, I had a cunning plan to (supposedly) stop it being overlooked. I headed them "Your Stories On The Archive..."

goofy

Shame it mostly didn't work. laugh

Hmm... I don't think I got a notification. But 'Patchwork Family' Hmm... yeah, I could probably whip this into an archivable drabble. All 380 words of it blush

But 'Hell Hath No Fury' is missing on that list peep /me still scared about editing 700KB.

Oh, there are no stories too short for the Archive, Michael. Witness:

Shortest LNC Story

And, in fact, at times like these, when both stories in the upload queue and GEs to edit submitted stories are scarce, SuperShorts and Vignettes are like gold, given that they are, naturally, quick to edit and get into the queue.

So, bring it on! <G>

Could you send that e-mail again, Labby?

You're using labrat@blueyonder right?

Yup. On its way.

Okay, scratch that - no, it isn't. Apparently, my server connection has been lost on email. Despite the fact that, as usual, their website claims there are no current issues. (Yet broadband is red, not green on their traffic light system at the top of the page - which would seem to suggest otherwise. Gits. razz )

I'm off to bed right now (4.36 am), but I'll try sending it again first thing in the morning when, hopefully, Virgin Media will have gotten their act together.

Something to keep in mind... People, like me, only read stories when they are sent to the archives. So if you want to increase your readers, sending your stories to the archives is a good idea.
