So, one of my betas, KenJ, was helpful enough to explain to me that heartbeats are not really a 'thumping' noise, but after typing a couple 'lub-dub, lub...dubs,' I shrugged, said to myself, 'Artistic license covers a lot, and anyway, who knows how Superman processes sounds after all,' and there you have it. The full and very detailed story behind why the heartbeats in this chapter are more Poe, less science. I hope you can all shrug with me and enjoy the chapter.
