That totally sucks. I think the whole system needs to be changed, so that employers *cannot* offer pensions, health insurance, life insurance, etc -- but instead give you the cash amounts for you to control the accounts/insurance yourself. That way, when they lay you off, you're not losing everything you've paid into for years. Yeah, I know -- good luck with that. But the current system shouldn't be screwing people out of everything they've *promised* for decades.
