Lois gets to chose between death row and wearing a red wig. It's not an easy choice to make but the chance for nookie with her husband in a rundown motel seals the deal. They also deal with artificial kryptonite, wack-job scientists, and corrupt officials in this conclusion to the trial of the century.

Hi FoLCs!

Quotes:

The Daily Herald: White Testifies; Lane Fries
The National Inquisitor: Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! Nunk smiles from the Grave!

LOIS: All I ever wanted was to get to the bottom of a problem and make it better.

CLARK: You follow your heart. You do the right thing.
LOIS: Is that why you love me?
CLARK: And you have a really great body.

LOIS: I'd like the chicken breast sandwich, on sourdough, with a slice of Bermuda onion. Also no mayonnaise, but could you bring some Dijon mustard? On the side. And some dills. If you're out of sourdough, a seven-grain roll will be fine. I'd like some iced chamomile tea, slice of lime not lemon, and boysenberry pie, heated to room temperature. Thank you.

CLARK (to Lois): Please don’t do anything adventurous.

LOIS: Letting him drop again was a nice touch.
CLARK: Someone that slippery is tough to hold on to.

SUPERMAN (to Lois ringing the church bells): You rang?

LOIS: Finally. You know, Clark, there was a time I thought I'd rather die than sit around with my husband in sloppy old clothes, just watching TV and talking about the day. I have to tell you... It sounds wonderful.

LOIS (about renovating together): I have decided there are more important things a newlywed couple can do to bond.

LOIS: Race you upstairs. No cheatin’. No super powers. Eeep!

Details

Episode starts on December 18th 1996.

DA Michael Clemmons, seeks the death penalty for Lois Lane’s heinous murder actions. This leads to Superman breaking Lois out of jail and going on the lam with another man’s wife.

Professor Jefferson Cole has his lair in church bell tower. He’s wearing a cape-coat like a 19th century villain. He worked at Star Labs under Doc Klein where he developed and sold weapons. Doc Klein noticed, fired Cole and gave the story to Lois Lane for investigation and Superman for capturing Cole. This resulted in Cole seeking to avenge himself on the perpetrators of said injustice against his entrepreneurial genius.

Clark confirms that he cannot fly super fast without vaporizing Lois.

Clark takes Lois to a rundown motel (“The Cozy Motel”) where Lois gets frisky with her husband.

DA Clemmons calls Lois “Mad Dog Killer Lane”, then shortens it to “Mad Dog Lane”. Clark mentions this is the first time Lois is called “Mad Dog” even though it was used by Jimmy in Neverending Battle.

Clark had brought a list of anyone with a drudge against Lois. It’s a two-column printout, about 20 pages long. It’s only the scientists Lois has sent to jail. 5 threatened to sue, 200 to kill and only 6 of those have a background in hallucinations (See list at minute 15:00).

The Pentagon has STAR Labs develop hybrid kryptonite that’s as lethal to humans as kryptonite is to Kryptonians. It’s meant as a radioactive weapon to wipe out cities while leaving the infrastructure intact. Doc Klein was made project lead. His coworker’s hologram is jealous. Jefferson Cole also worked on Project K, figuring out how he can expose millions at once and sell it for profit. Cole now wants to wipe out Metropolis.

The Diner owner, Lou, is grateful to Lois for all the fighting for the little guy.

Jefferson Cole needs a computer to identify the woman with shoulder length copper hair, sunglasses and some rouge as Lois Lane. It’s likely that the population of Metropolis is generally afflicted with glassically-induced facial blindness.

Jefferson Cole shoots and kills Sheila to silence her conscience.

Superman is able enhance the reflection of Jefferson Cole in dirty mirror shard taped by a home video camera viewed on a 20” TV.

Lois traced phone records and identified DA Clemmons as the one who distracted the guard before the bullet vanished from evidence lockup.

Lois figures out that DA Clemmons has the bullet on him. Clark pickpockets the DA in a multiple-stumble-help.

Cole sends a Superman hallucination to STAR Labs to retrieve the hybrid kryptonite.

Lois gets kidnapped by Cole’s henchman.

Doc Klein uses a beaker to keep his drink while working. Might it be that he’s a functioning alcoholic?

Cole seeded rain clouds with hybrid kryptonite.

According to a shot from the episode, the Daily Planet building is only 3 stories high. And yet, the elevator has 20 buttons.

Superman creates a miniature tornado to capture the rain and rain clouds. Hybrid Kryptonite is harmless to Kryptonians.

Lois distracts Cole by kicking the bell mechanism into gear.

Clark carries Lois over the threshold over their new home.

Fanfic recommendations:
Oops, The Destruction of Utopia by MLT: one scene is inspired by the motel.
