Happy Ficlet Friday (just under the wire there this week)! This is part 3 of the Pizza Run series.

I think I've got an arc figured out for this series, but there's still some room for Lois to get a little more evil at torturing Clark first. And who knows where it will go!

No beta on this one, so any mistakes are my own! I don't mind having them pointed out, since I'll plan to submit this to the archive. And of course, any other comments are really just encouragement to keep writing the next part.

Thanks for reading!

Looking forward to this summer's Location Challenge! Looks like stories are due around August 1st, and then polls open for voting!

And don't forget about the 2026 fundraiser! Head over to the Fundraising page to donate or consider adding a story to the Keepsake Collection fundraising drive!

“Lex helped people,” she shot back. “He gave millions to charity. No one else in Metropolis could have done that. Did that justify all of his lies?”

“You’re comparing what Clark does with what Luthor did?” Jimmy asked incredulously, voice low and eyes wide.

Whoa, Lois, that hurt! Good thing Clark wasn't around to hear that T-T

Now I'm torn between loving the torture Lois is putting Clark through and wanting her to forgive him XD At the same time, I get that she's way more upset than Jimmy - her relationship with Clark (and Superman!) is so different from Jimmy's relationship with Clark, there's no comparison. I hope Jimmy doesn’t judge her for her reaction, but I guess he feels a little guilty for taking away Clark’s chance to tell her… Poor guy, he’s in a tough spot. I’d love to see him giving Clark advice, too!

Anyway, I think Lois just needs time and more delicious food laugh Go on, Super-Pizza-Delivery-Man!

Stories are written by the victors.

Lois is very mad to be comparing Clark to Lex. I actually now feel sorry for Clark. Lois’s game might end up backfiring on her. Jimmy is also in a tight spot. Hopefully Clark doesn’t end up mad at Jimmy. I can’t wait to see what happens next! Thank you!

Her eyes lingered on her partner.

She didn’t need to keep to tormenting him today if she didn’t feel like it, she decided reasonably.

Instead, she helped herself to another mouthful of noodles.

She'd come up with a new game plan for tomorrow.

Ouch!

As Jimmy said, Lois is really mad and determined to torture him. Poor guy, right now, for Clark Kent the Daily Planet bullpen is a scary place to be.

Having fun with this series.

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Poor Clark. Wonder what is going on in his head. Lois is hitting him hard! He has to know she is onto him, right?? Also has Lois completely forgotten that she is somewhat in love with Superman? Guess she is just way too mad at the moment. I’m loving Jimmy being the voice of reason and sanity.

Yay Jimmy! Way to bring it into perspective. Because yikes, her comparing Clark to Lex is waaaay out of perspective.

And yeah, poor confused Clark. Love how he brought her the perfect noodles she didn't even know she wanted. Those sound amazing. Do they have a name? Lol

Hi Evie!
Quote
Today might just be businesses usual for him. But for her,

/Psst/ business, singular?

who could apparently fabricate falsehoods as easily as flying.

So, best not sleep with him. He might misappropriate story notes or find his interest wander to more flaxen-haired maidens who’s body shape indicates a greater propensity for producing and nourishing healthy offspring?

Quote
And the unsteadiness resulting from that fracture made her furious.

Nice angle. She’s mad he disrupted her sense of how the world works, not because of the actual falsehood.

Quote
“I’m using it,” she replied tersely.

Translation: I’m fine.
.
.
.
Translation: You’re in deep doodoo. Figure it out fast.

Quote
buried under a cascade of other folders and loose papers.

“You’re using it?” he asked, clearly seeing that she wasn’t.

She needs it to prop up the other papers.

Quote
She’d succeeded.

He was inconvenienced.

It wasn’t enough.

She wanted him as unsteady as she felt.

Vindictive Lois is fun! She could try to be more Cat-ish, that would…inconvenience him a lot.

Quote
“You have a stain on you shirt,”

/Psst/ your

Quote
“You have a stain on you shirt,” she said lightly, executing her premeditated plan before he was out of earshot.

No way, she actually is going to Cat him?

Quote
“It’s right there,” she said, gesturing to the center of his chest where the red ’S’ crest usually sat.

Oh. Wait, is she being coy?

Quote
“I thought I saw a red patch there. I guess I just imagined it.”

She would have missed the flash of panic across his eyes if she hadn’t been looking for it.

Oh. Also, she could send Jimmy on a coffee run, plunk herself into Clark’s lap, and start kissing him while unbuttoning his shirt. This would result in the most interesting conundrum for Clark.

Quote
It looked like the Man of Steel didn’t have nerves of steel.

/Points at Cat-strategy/

Quote
She smirked and decided to make it a full barrage of unsettling him, instead of drawing it out the way she’d planned.

Poor dear. You almost have to feel sorry for him. Almost.

Quote
“Where was that Chinese place you picked food up from?”

Uuu…just around the corner from the Italian place.

Quote
“I was going to order Chinese for lunch,” she said. “What was that restaurant’s name?”

Master Foo Man Chew’s House of Delights. Be careful not to order at Master Foo Man Choo’s House of Delights. They…cater to a different appetite.

Quote
“Right,” she said, switching tactics. “Anyway, where was it? I’ll just go walk over.”

Possible, given how she can walk on water as far as Clark’s concerned.

Quote
It was getting easier to see the lies.

“Do you have it?” she asked.

“Huh?” he asked, stopping just before he could pass her by.

“Do you have it with you? Your gas bill?” she spelled out.

“Oh, yeah, right here,” he replied, patting his jacket’s breast pocket, which she was sure was empty.

On the plus side, with this much practice she can be sure he won’t be able to lie to her about important stuff, like what he does with blondes.

Quote
“You don’t even know what I want,” she said, trying to hold back a laugh.

Delectable foods she can pop into her mouth with her fingers so she can then proceed to lick those fingers clean of sauce while looking at him through lidded eyes.

Quote
Run away, little boy, she thought triumphantly.

Title! The title hunt continues!

Quote
Oh, this was going to be fun.

Such a meta thing so say by the author!

Quote
That look on his face when she’d said she saw red across his chest was going to get her through at least the next hour of reading through the teeny, tiny font on the account reconciliations she was parsing.

It’s fun how she uses torturing him to give herself pick-me-ups. It’s also very mean of her. Should we feel sorry for him? /considers earlier remark/ Apparently not.

Quote
“Or maybe that Bruce Wayne is actually the Batman and you’ve tracked him to his super-secret Gotham lair?”

/watches as Jimmy freezes and stammers/

LOIS: wallbash

Quote
“You’d have figured it out soon!” he said desperately.

Actually…

Quote
“You’re Lois Lane!” he said encouragingly. “Of course you would have figured it out! I even thought you already knew, remember?”

Not helping yourself there!

Quote
“Oh, I remember alright,” she shot back, choosing to start ignoring him again.

See?

Quote
She forced down the grin. She wasn’t trying. She was succeeding. And she was about to get the best shrimp shumai she’d ever had out of it, to boot.

She really should be hosted at a criminal mastermind exhibition.

Quote
Something more important than what I’m doing, or what you’re doi”—at her sharp glare, he redirected his sentence—“something no one else can do.”

rotflol

Also, does this mean Lois now gets to be mad at Jimmy not just because he’s more perceptive than her but also because Jimmy’s more reasonable?

Quote
“You’re comparing what Clark does with what Luthor did?” Jimmy asked incredulously, voice low and eyes wide.

They both want Lois Lane to be their girlfriend. They both are tall and have a full head of dark hair. They both jump off the balconies of tall buildings. They both have a strong interest in Kryptonite. They both place no value in money itself. They both got the key to the city.

Quote
Jimmy shook his head but rebut didn’t her.

/psst/ did you mean “didn’t rebut her”?

Quote
She dropped her focus back down to the page of rows and rows of numbers, all lined up like they were in front of a firing squad.

It’s cool how you use her accounts sheet as an anchor and emotional mirror.

Quote
Sullenly, she realized that it wasn’t as good as she remembered.

spider What’s up with that? Is it a metaphor? Is it her knowing the truth behind the mystery tainting the taste? Is her ire actually changing her perception?

Quote
It was some kind of garlic-infused, shredded pork and a thick noodle, all smothered in a lush and spicy, almost too spicy, chili oil. It was savory and heavenly, and her mouth actually watered as she ate it.

Not a metaphor. Not a metaphor. Not a metaphor!

Quote
Clark had said he’d known what she’d liked. She wasn’t sure she could have ordered whatever this was, and it was exactly what she’d wanted.

Another great metaphor!

Quote
She didn’t need to keep to tormenting him today if she didn’t feel like it, she decided reasonably.

The “reasonably” makes it so deep. And so much fun!

Quote
She'd come up with a new game plan for tomorrow.

clap

Another fun outing!

Nah... not nearly as easily!!

Quote
Not that he was ever out of earshot, she reminded herself.

Ouch!!!

Quote
When he arrived, he tripped over his own chair and she had to hold back a snide snort, wondering whether she’d actually thrown him or if it was just for her benefit, to reinforce his Clark-Kentness after she’d gotten close to a subconscious Superman connection.

Clark-Kentness!! This gave me a vibe from the Christopher Reeve movies xD

Quote
“Why don’t I go pick it up?” he asked quickly.

“I could use the walk,” she said firmly.

“No, really, I don’t mind,” he said with more urgency.

“I don’t either,” she shot back, standing.

They are so ridiculous xDD

Quote
“Or maybe that Bruce Wayne is actually the Batman and you’ve tracked him to his super-secret Gotham lair?”

SO CLOSE!

Quote
“Well, it’s just that right now it kinda looks like you’re trying to make him crazy.”

She forced down the grin. She wasn’t trying. She was succeeding. And she was about to get the best shrimp shumai she’d ever had out of it, to boot.

LMAO I love Lois's pettiness, sorry not sorry xD Perfect characterization!

Okay now I really want some of that. Damn!

Another fun installment!! I'm really enjoying the deep dive into Lois's head as she processes this! Will be catching up with the rest asap!
