Summary: What if all the worst parts of your personality came together to lead you to the right decision, but for all the wrong reasons? When Clark gets a tip that's too hot for him to handle, he has to make a decision that could melt his relationship with Lois into lava. This is a light story, with a little swath of angst, a little dash of WAFFY-ness and a LOT of silly choices that the original series probably could have gotten away with in the 90's, but television really couldn't get away with now. (We'll see if this fic can get away with it.)
tl;dr: There's a proposal, and possibly some bad decisions.

A/N:This adjusts the show's timeline in Barbarians at the Planet. Here, Luthor never buys the Daily Planet. The sequence here is that Luthor blows up the Planet, then proposes, not the other way around.

This was supposed to be a 5 page story maximum, a series of clipped vignette scenes with the same basic plot and absolutely no consequences (sort of like if Tank wrote happy endings). But I can't manage to write something less than 50 pages these days, and that style of comedy eludes me. So this is just a terribly failed writing exercise. lol But, like One More Chance, it's one of those little throw-away pieces living on my hard drive. The holiday season brings chaos, so in the spirit of seasons changing and chaos erupting whether we are planning for it or not, I hope you found a little enjoyment in this one.

This chapter lives here.

Huge thanks to 90stvfangirl and CalliopeWayne for such kind and helpful beta work! Any errors are mine, as I have a habit of editing even after the betas have done their excellent supportive work.

Thanks in advance for any feedback - every comment is fuel for another page of another story.
Thanks for reading!

Looking forward to this summer's Location Challenge! Looks like stories are due around August 1st, and then polls open for voting!

And don't forget about the 2026 fundraiser! Head over to the Fundraising page to donate or consider adding a story to the Keepsake Collection fundraising drive!

I loved this! I feel like you really captured season 1 Lois Lane. I only wish it could have been longer. You might be trying to limit yourself to a few pages but I'm loving that you didn't. Thanks so much for sharing. I always enjoy your writing.

I loved the craziness of it all. I guess getting married on a dare counts as jumping without checking the water level. I wish we could have seen the revelation. I wouldn't have complained if there had been another chapter. Don't limit yourself! grin This story was great! Thanks for sharing.

What a great story. I always love your writing! I'm glad she took the chance to really work through the important bits before she said 'I do' instead of taking that game of chicken to the end.

I love it! The ending is perfect. I’m glad it wound up being longer than 5 pages. The clerk
is right - they are lifers. Thank you for this gem!

This was so much fun - and such a unique spin on things. I haven't been on the boards much lately so it was really great to come back and find this wonderful story.

LMAO Clark bringing Bobby over as his witness, brilliant!!

Oh god this was so good!! All while the wedding was going on I was thinking, but she doesn't know!! And then:

Very shortly after that revelation, the marriage had nearly been furiously annulled.

Hahahah oops xD

But they worked it all out! This was such an adorable ending! Thank you for sharing!! ❤❤❤❤
