Goals:

I deliberated a lot over this, and have settled on 3 core goals:

1. Do a 15 min sprint every day, at least 5 days a week, even if it is just editing or brainstorming

2. Write at least 15k

3. Update at least one chapter of my long fic (usually around 7-8k)

So i'll try and update on each of those goals as I go, though i'm new to this so will be trying to pick up how this is done by watching others!

Hey! Thanks for the words of encouragement all!

First week complete and feeling really happy that i've managed to write 4 out of the 5 days so far. The words count may not have been what i'm used to when I usually sit down to write (much less frequently) but I can really see how it accumulates. I'm also noticing it feels way less stressful, even though I don't get that same rush of finishing something in one or two sittings.

It's not easy to push past the parts of my mind saying im not in the mood or im too tired, so im proud of myself for achieving that!

So curious how the rest of the month will go!

Sometimes the calm, steady pace can be much more stable and rewarding than the scrambling, frantic bursts. I'm finding it interesting how people are responding to the changes in how they usually do things =)

So happy with how this is going. Total word count on my longfic chapter so far (already had some drafted) is now 4389 so really coming along, and starting to make more sense to me. Some fics are much easier, but with this one it's a hard process of writing drafts that initially feel AWFUL and then crafting them until they make sense to me within the context of everything that's happened so far. I guess thats just the pain of a pantser having to become a planner and try and stick to an outline in the final third of the story 😅

Feels weird not working on anything L&C, but at the same time, I know if i can get a better relationship with consistent writing, i'll have a better chance of contributing to the fandom more in the future! 😊

Feel like i'm really moving forward at a good pace! My goals feel really in sight and i'm enjoying this stress free feeling so much 😊 I'm almost a third of the way to my word count goal and i'm a third of the way through the month... right where I need to be! Especially as I know I have some time off at the end of the month if theres anything to make up.

Great seeing everyone else's progress too, so encouraging to look to either side and smile and wave at others while running this marathon! 😅

Still going strong, much to my amazement. Would have thought the consistency would have wavered by now! Also feel happy ive felt free to write whatever I want, even starting an original idea... and yet the longfic is also still being chipped away at just fine. It reminds me of an old Alan Watts video I remember listening to about the principle of 'Wu Wei'. Basically not forcing things. Lovely to see how that tap continues to flow.

And yes, don't force it. If sitting down and getting in the mindset to write feels anxious, don't encourage that brain training. You want writing to be good, not anxiety driven. I get that way too, and then I just move to something else so I don't reinforce negative associations.

Dedicated the last few days to editing and adding detail to the longfic. Realised yesterday there was no way all 5 sections were going to fit into one chapters length, so have shifted them onto the next chapter, along with a draft of another section i've written. Which means two things.

1. I have posted a chapter and therefore completed goal 3!
2. I have a draft of the next chapter that won't take as much work to complete!

Hoping to have a bit of fun over the last week of this challenge and just write whatever I fancy, though if I can direct my mind towards something L&C related I will

Well I bloody did it! So chuffed to bits, especially as the majority of that word count was BEFORE my week off, which has meant my week off has been much less stressful. Ive absolutely loved discovering I am in fact capable of 15 min consistent writing sprints. Sometimes they've run longer when the mood took hold, but nothing had felt too forced.
