Hi Amanda!
It seemed like she had hit every stop between the brownstone and her mother’s apartment.
Universe giving signs.
She could start fresh in a new apartment and focus on her work, reestablishing her place as the top investigative reporter for the Daily Planet. No lost memories to worry about. No distractions.
Sounds like that will make her very happy!
She only wished she hadn’t had to hurt Clark in the process.
Yep, kicking a forlorn puppy multiple times only sounds like fun in the movies.
After the divorce, he would have no trouble finding someone else if that was what he wanted.
Maybe someone amphibian-based?
But why did the thought of Clark moving on feel like something was breaking inside of her?

He’d said he was her friend but he almost seemed to be avoiding her. She doubted he had any feelings for her – not that he would act on them even if he did.
It’s possible that she knocked her head while the two of them where … otherwise … engaged, and he’s now avoiding her to prevent the salacious truth from coming out?
the more she just wanted to give up on trying to remember altogether.
So, she did.
Lois Lane doesn’t give up, a small voice in the back of her mind said.
Awwww
Why was she giving all that up?
Fear.
The answer hit her like a ton of bricks. She was afraid.
Of what?
Poor dear!
She would not live by fear. Lois Lane does not give up.
She spun on her heel and started marching back towards the Jeep. She wasn’t sure exactly what she was going to do but she knew that she needed to keep digging, keep asking questions, and find out who she’d become in the time she had forgotten. Her memory might be locked but she was Lois Lane, investigative reporter, and she was going to find out what was hidden behind that door.
Ooooohhhh
But just before she could open the door, an arm wrapped around her throat from behind and began pulling her into an alley.
Oops? I was going to mention the ominously distant parking spot but figured that Ellen’s neighborhood wasn’t seedy enough to warrant such a remark. Sounds like there’s still upper class criminals out and about.
P.S. I’m sorry for the cliffhanger. Next part will be up in a few days.
You’re not conditioning early readers that way. Although, it’s just as likely I’m gonna find another cliffhanger when I’m done with part 7.
