I knew laced was wrong, and joked in the Discord chat group about Lois lacing Clark's coffee with Kryptonite.
Which color? Which color? Golden brown like caramelized sugar, triggering a hyper-active Clark?
“Want some?” Lois asked, offering the straw of her frozen drink that was an alarming shade of green.
Clark’s least favorite color: glowing green.
“But why is it green?” Lois took another slurp, before offering him a taste again. “Try it!” she insisted.
St. Patrick’s Day?
“Try it, Clark,” reiterated Jimmy offering up his drink, which was twice the size of Lois’. “Here, Clark.” “Take a sip!”
Oh, he’s dreaming.
Kryptonite? He couldn’t feel it, there was no pain, no weakness. “After we published that story about Kryptonite, the Java Stop made a drink to commemorate it. It’s delicious. Try it, Clark.”
He opened his eyes and stared wide-eyed at Lois, trying to get his bearings. He must have nodded off and had the strangest dream.
Hey, that was a double fake out!
Tonight he would head home, and go straight to bed. “There’s a dinner special at O’Connor’s tonight. Would you like to go?”
It’s a trap!
Scrap the early bedtime plan, he thought. Lois is asking me to join her for dinner!
See? She’s using her feminine whiles to exhaust him to the point where he's no longer a competition.
You guys off to O’Connor’s tonight,” Jimmy piped up. “Make sure you’ve got a reservation! It’s going to be packed.”
Okay, that does sound like Irish plus St. Patrick’s. But that’s earlier in the year, isn’t it?
. “It’s just some green food colouring for St. Patrick’s Day.”
That was a fun bit of misdirection!
