Agreed.

One fanfic (name can be found on request) had an interesting take. The author had Lois and Clark sharing the info on the curse with Alt-Clark and Alt-Lois, who immediately shacked up. No marriage, no curse. (Not sure what happens when they become married under common-law, though.)
