How many here have used Carbonite My father-in-law uses it and so does Rush Limbaugh. I was just wondering if anyone here has used it. James

My boss uses it and good thing - he just had his computer crash and got back EVERYTHING from Carbonite.

Heh. Maybe it's just me, but my first thought when asked if I use carbonite was: Yes, of course. That's the stuff I'm keeping Han Solo suspended in - I guess I really should go thaw him out now. :p

I may sound a little paranoid, and I promise I'm not (I just value my privacy and security), but looking at the website, they say they install "a small application on your computer".
Um, how can they guarantee that no one else has access to your data? It sounds like an open door for hackers and others. I don't mean that the data that is being transferred (again according to the website, encrypted twice) will be stolen, but the communication path that the application uses could probably be used for going into your computer...
