I just saw the trailer Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it - how about anyone else here?
Also, would everyone here prefer it if spoilers for Superman Returns were/were not mentioned openly?
Or does no one care about SR here?

I care about Superman Returns, but I'm nervous about it. I'm really worried that this movie may destroy the idea that Clark/Superman and Lois are meant to be together. As far as I can understand, the movie is going to push the idea that Lois has a son by another man, and that she honestly can't walk out on that man because of her son. The idea that Lois has another man's child is one that definitely does not appeal to me!
But I would much appreciate getting information about this film, and being told what ultimately happens to Clark and Lois in it, a soon as that information is available. Surely such information could be posted here under a spoiler space warning?

Paired with Mission Impossible III - http://www.bluetights.net/theplanet/showthread.php?t=12152 has all kinds of links to the trailer - hope one works for you. Is is pathetic that I'm already wondering if we get can Phil Atcliffe (or anyone) to write a Couch Potatoes fic for this movie once it's on DVD? I've heard lots of spoilers, but I don't know which ones are accurate. From what I understand, Singer has a habit of disseminating false information so as to keep the surprises intact (even the noveliztion and comic for X2 had different endings than the movie). Speculation about the kid has run rampant. Singer says he's Lois and Richard's, but some people think he is Superman's and some people think he's Richard's child and not Lois', and some people believe Singer. I don't know what to believe. I do know the script mentioned on AICN is an old draft from 2005. I do know there have been changes since then. I do know that in that script S P O I L E R S P A C E The child is Clark's. But, as I said, it could have been changed or it could just
be something put there to throw people off. Edited to remove the long line that messed about with the screen width

I have to say I agree with those who'd be disappointed if Lois had had a child with another man. I know that each Superman version interprets the myth in a different way (Clark's relationship with Lana, the life and death of Martha and Jonathan...), but that is one interpretation that could spoil the movie for me.

I totally agree. I don't really like the idea of picturing Superman as the homewrecker of some kid, either. And Lois Lane and Clark Kent are a fated couple --it's like a Greek myth. You just don't mess with that part of the story.
I'll probably see the movie just because it's Superman, and I couldn't stop myself. But if I am disappointed, I WILL NOT buy it on dvd and watch it over and over again, that's for sure. I'm trying to be hopeful, though.

Based on spoilers that were hinted at earlier this week by a critic who read the shooting script, the spoiler posted above IS true...remembering that the new movie is somewhat of a continuation of the first two C.Reeve "Superman" movies, it does make sense. How it's revealed is another matter!!

I'm interested in the revelation too, if it's true. S P O I L E R But I hope they dropped the piano scene For anyone wondering why I use the tiny writing (well, the "code" tags), it's because I thought it'd make it less likely for anyone to accidentally read the text.

Originally posted by Tzigone: Is it pathetic that I'm already wondering if we get can Phil Atcliffe (or anyone) to write a Couch Potatoes fic for this movie once it's on DVD? Pathetic? No. Likely to happen? Hmmm.... I think I require notice of that question, and possibly a detailed synopsis of the story before I decide whether I want to do a CP on it or not. You see, like others, I am very leery of this film, for the simple reason that they put in the stupid Lois-takes-up-with-another-man subplot. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see a soap opera in which Lois is trapped with another man, regardless of whether the child involved is Clark's or Mr A.N. Other's. This is just one more example of the deliberate trashing of the Superman legend by the morons in Hollywood who can't cope with the concept of a hero; it started with Smellville and now we have The-Film-Based-Solely-On-Its-Title, and I am unimpressed. So a CP of SL might happen in the future, but don't hold your breath. I'm not sure that I will want to acknowledge this film's existence in the CP universe -- and besides, I have CP2 to finish first, along with everything else that I've been neglecting while my Muse went elsewhere for a while. She'll come back to L&C eventually, though. Phil (Accept no substitutes! )

Wow, Phil! But I too have my doubts about this film. Hopefully, we'll be wrong.

Excerpt from the novel - http://www.twbookmark.com/books/69/0446606529/chapter_excerpt22886.html I don't usually like the novelizations, but I might have to buy this one. FTR, for those who wish to remain unspoiled - this only covers the hours before Kal-El is put into the ship and sent to Earth. I also noticed that S P O I L E R in the novelization 5% of the sciences are missing which sets up the possibility that Clark thinks his trip to Krypton will only take a little time instead of the years it takes Edited by Admin to remove the long lines which were making the thread too wide. Tzigone, can you please use the quote function instead of the code one in future?

Sure, I can. But I checked this time. It was too long and I broke into two lines so it wouldn't stretch the screen. But I guess my setting for my monitor's resolution might play in here.

Rumor has it the novel is available for order (and in some stores) from Wal-Mart, Target and Amazon.
I'm planning on waiting until after the movie tp read it, myself, though.
