One of my favorite parts was this one...
“Well, Dan’s a great guy. Attentive. Loving. Loyal.”
“Sounds like my dog when I was seven,” he mumble under his breath.
“What?” she demanded, an edge creeping into her tone.
“Sounds like a match made in heaven,” he said louder.
Actually, Little T., I have to give credit to Carol here. I knew I wanted him to mumble some insult about Dan sounding like a dog and then 'correct' it, but I just couldn't come up with the right phrase to make it work. Carol is the one who came up with 'Sounds like my dog when I was seven.' If you look in the FanFic Related section, you can see my question and the resulting discussion.
It amazed me, too, how quickly Carol thought of it. I'd spent days trying to find the right phrase and she had it almost immediately.
