That was such a nice little vignette, Elisabeth.

It's great to read how you swapped Lex's White Orchid Ball from the pilot with Bruce Wayne's New Years party, keeping a lot of the dialog (with minor adjustments) and concepts (balcony, meeting in the weapons room); you really made it work.

The idea that Clark would work for the Bugle had me smiling, too.

Perhaps the bears had it right. This would be an excellent time to hibernate.
Good idea smile

She turned back to the crowd. Clark Kent was still watching her. He raised his champagne to bring in the New Year with her, even from across the crowd.

She raised her glass toward his. “Happy New Year,” she silently mouthed.
I like how you did not fall into the trap of just having to have them kiss (I don't know if I could have resisted with the New Years setting just screaming for it wink ), but still managed to establish that there is a certain connection between them.

I hope it's okay to mention this, but I found it a little harsh that you called Cat a "trampy journalist-wannabe." I don't care too much about the character myself, but still ...

In my opinion, this vignette stands on its own nicely, but now that some people mentioned it: it would also make a great starting point for a longer alternate world fic.

I would definitely be interested in that smile

Thank you,
