Something to keep in mind is that AI detectors can sometimes call something AI when it isn't. I ran a very old story of mine--written around 2000--through an AI detector and it identified several passages that were supposedly AI. Of course, ChatGPT etc. didn't exist in 2000, and I'd rather do my own thinking and writing, thank you very much. So, if an AI detector says the work is AI, check with the author. Sometimes the AI checkers are as dumb as the AI itself.
Annie B—We completely agree with you that AI checkers are very fallible! And we don’t want to start witch hunts or make unsubstantiated accusations or anything.
We would like to ask all FoLCs (not directed at you, Annie!🫶), please:
DO NOT run anyone’s fanfic through AI, even as a checker! This is feeding it to the AI, which will then learn from content which was given without the author’s consent! Clarifications for RSF's question still forthcoming (real life abounds).
Thanks,
Sara
